In the face of the challenges and opportunities brought by generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT to the field of basic education, the education system must properly grasp the direction and scale of the deep integration and development of AI technology and education, and actively promote the reform of basic education in the intelligent era.
The first is to encourage the research and development of generative AI technologies suitable for basic education. Increase investment in R&D of AI data, models, and computing infrastructure, and accelerate the independent research and development of generative AI technologies with Chinese characteristics for scenarios and data.
The second is to strengthen the improvement of relevant digital literacy of teachers and students. Improve teachers' awareness of the effective use of ChatGPT and other intelligent tools to carry out teaching design, teaching evaluation, teaching reflection and improvement, and guide students to use intelligent tools correctly.
Third, it is necessary to establish a new model for the application of generative intelligence technology in basic education. Teachers are encouraged to use it for teaching preparation, teaching scaffolding, and auxiliary homework design and evaluation, and encourage students in the upper grades to use it to carry out independent learning, first-class learning and collaborative learning.
Fourth, it is necessary to establish special topics and organize and carry out in-depth evidence-based research. Focusing on the multiple scenarios of generative artificial intelligence technology empowering the teaching practice of basic education, new laws and theories on core issues such as knowledge production, cognitive rules, teaching interaction, learning mechanism, and learning evaluation are refined.
Fifth, it is necessary to improve the laws, regulations and policy mechanisms related to intelligent applications. Accelerate the formulation and improvement of laws, regulations, and policy frameworks for generative AI applications in basic education, and improve the regulatory mechanisms for the entire life cycle of generative AI applications.
