On February 3, 2024, at the beginning of the winter vacation, the weather was bitterly cold and raining, and the members of the wind team of Class 7 (8) of Shaoxing Changcheng Middle School braved the severe cold and silently set out in this small city to carry out research and study activities according to the established plan.
Shaoxing Meteorological Museum is a collection of meteorological science, display, communication and other functions in one of the modern meteorological science venues, is the largest meteorological museum in the country, it is located in Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, close to the Great Wall Middle School, in the meteorological museum, with a wealth of exhibits and interactive experience projects, all-round display of the mystery of meteorological science. The exhibition hall has a meteorological history exhibition area, a meteorological instrument exhibition area, a meteorological disaster exhibition area, a meteorological service exhibition area and other areas, through the first display, physical display, more than the first demonstration and other forms, popularize meteorological knowledge, improve the public's awareness of meteorological disaster prevention.
Under the guidance of professional commentators, the students visited various meteorological instruments, equipment and exhibition areas in turn. The students observed the meteorological observation field, meteorological satellite ground receiving station and other facilities with great interest, and learned a lot of scientific knowledge related to weather and climate. In addition, the instructor also introduced the formation process of meteorological forecasts and the impact of climate change on human life in detail.
In addition to theoretical learning, the Shaoxing Meteorological Museum has also set up a special meteorological observation field, and placed various meteorological observation instruments, such as thermometers, hygrometers, anemometers, rain gauges, etc., to monitor and record the meteorological data of Shaoxing City in real time, and provide basic data support for meteorological research and forecasting. The students also practiced meteorological observations. Under the guidance of the instructors, the students operated the instruments that measure basic meteorological elements such as temperature, humidity, and air pressure, and recorded and analyzed the data. Through practice, students gain a deeper understanding of the process and significance of meteorological observations.
The climax of the event was a lecture on climate change and environmental protection, in which the lecturer explained global warming, extreme weather events and other issues in simple terms, which stimulated students' attention and thinking about environmental protection issues, and guided them to establish the values of respecting nature and caring for the environment. With its rich content and novel form, the Meteorological Museum team activity gave the students a more intuitive understanding of meteorological science and stimulated their love for science. It not only enriches the students' winter vacation life, but also improves the students' scientific literacy and practical ability. The students expressed that they should work hard to learn scientific knowledge in the future, make unremitting efforts to realize their scientific dreams, and contribute to the protection of the earth's environment and the response to climate change.
