The Warcraft History Story team has been hit hard by layoffs, is the cut unjust?

According to multiple sources on the Internet, in this layoff, the team for the history of Warcraft was laid off, and the number of people in the team was reduced from 5 to 2.

This team mainly provides historical material support for the writing of Warcraft stories, as well as historical materials for Warcraft-related games such as Hearthstone. Their job is to ensure that the new version of Warcraft does not conflict with the previous story, or if the previous story needs to be used, the new story will be provided with previous story materials.

You can think of them as archivists for Warcraft Stories, and while this position isn't as important as the other positions, and some restructuring after being acquired by Microsoft is inevitable, Blizzard has promised to focus more on narrative in the Souls of the World trilogy, and a massive layoff of the story team doesn't seem like a good time.

However, some players added.

While I regret that they lost their jobs and wish them the best of luck, make no mistake, the World of Warcraft story is complete rubbish after the return of the Legion, and it was this expelled team that gave us these plots.

I support their layoffs. If you take the last 5 to 10 years as a reference, these people obviously haven't done their job and don't know or care about the state of Warcraft Legends.

Then do you think, this team is not wronged, are these versions of the plot really so rubbish?
