In today's discussion, I'm going to use simpler, easy-to-understand language and examples to help you answer why many people can't find their purpose in life, don't know what they like, and don't know what kind of job they're suitable for. It's the start of the new year, and it's a good time to think about the future direction of your life. I've posted two previous posts on how to find a job field that I'm good at, but based on your comments, I've found that a lot of people's problems are not how to get a job, but that they simply don't know what they like and what they fit in.
There are two main reasons for this phenomenon: one is that people do not know enough about themselves, and the other is that even if they know themselves, they do not know what jobs are suitable for them in the market. Therefore, the first step we need to do is to dig deeper into ourselves and tap into our talents. The word talent is not far away for us ordinary people, it actually refers to what everyone wants to do and is good at, and it is a way to distinguish the traits between people. Everyone has needs, desires, strengths, and strengths, so we need to look inward to find out our own needs and strengths.
Let's review our own experience of getting positive feedback: 1. What is the most common thing that others praise you? 2. What are the characteristics that make you stand out from the people around you? Whether you consider these to be advantages or disadvantages, 3. What are some of the things that give you a sense of self-fulfillment? You find yourself able to easily do better than others. Taking myself as an example, the places where I am praised the most are that I am sincere, kind, considerate, emotionally intelligent, and I take care of the feelings of the people around me. In the team, there is a strong cohesion and a good atmosphere when I am around. What sets me apart from the people around me is that I am sensitive, I can accurately capture the emotional changes of those around me, and I am willing to communicate deeply with others, and I can quickly connect with strangers or new friends. From my example, you can see that my strengths and qualities are altruistic. Maybe some people don't like these traits in themselves, feel sensitive, internally frictional, and think too much, but I have successfully made true friends because of these traits, and now I have started to be self-conscious. So, stop saying that you don't have any good qualities, and don't deny the qualities in yourself that could have shined.
Next, please list in detail what you like and hate at work, and how you want to live your life. The more specific you are, the better you know what kind of job you should be looking for. The most important thing is to give yourself some free time outside of work to think about life plans, improve yourself, and develop interests or side hustles. For example, I am very resistant to doing housework after work because I have limited energy and just want to lie in bed and play with my phone after cleaning, and I am not inspired. In order to solve this problem, I bought a stone sweeping robot P10S, which is very suitable for my small house with twists and turns, and can automatically clean the corners to avoid mopping dead corners and jamming. It has a strong suction power that easily sucks hair from the floor, and it also has multiple cleaning modes that automatically re-wash and mop depending on the degree of dirt. Its app also has shortcuts, which can be cleaned up automatically at regular intervals, which is very convenient. With the robot vacuum, I have saved a lot of time doing housework, have more time to read and write, and my sense of happiness in life has greatly improved.
After getting to know ourselves better, we need to take the time to understand what jobs are right for us in the market. I recommend three ways to test it yourself:
1. Use the keyword search function on Xiaohongshu or other social software to see what people like us are doing.
2. Read more interview articles or autobiographical memoirs to understand how the predecessors determined the direction or transformation of their lives.
3. Start with an internship, part-time job or side hustle to try a job in a new field, and learn if you are suitable and if you have a more suitable job through practice.
In short, explore inward first to understand yourself, and then explore outward to find a work path that suits you.
