Recently, Bai Socheng, the largest telecom fraud boss in northern Myanmar, and others were handed over to the Chinese side by all parties in Myanmar, marking a significant achievement in the phased crackdown on telecom fraud in the region. However, the process behind this has not been smooth, highlighting the instability and problems at the political, military and social levels.
Northern Myanmar has long been the hardest hit area for telecom fraud, led by members of four major families. Since Ming Xuechang and others were wanted by the Chinese side, the remaining members of the criminal gang were greatly frightened. However, it took only a week to capture Ming Xuechang, while Bai Suocheng and others delayed for more than a month, which caused people to think deeply.
Originally, the members of the four major families mainly gathered in Lao Cai City, Kokang Autonomous Region in northern Myanmar, but as the Kokang Alliance captured Lao Cai City, Bai Socheng and others were secretly transferred to a military stronghold in Nam Son Town, northern Shan State. However, this turned out to be a mistake on the part of Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the Burmese Army, who failed to anticipate the resistance and vengeance of the Kokang allies.
After the Kokang Allied Forces captured Lao Cai City, they did not continue to expand their gains, but took control of the Kokang area in the name of "clearing up the wire fraud group", forcing Min Aung Hlaing to compromise. However, under the mediation of the Chinese side, the Burmese parties negotiated in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, and finally reached a ceasefire agreement, and the Myanmar army was forced to hand over Bai Socheng and others.
Although the crime of telecommunications fraud has been cracked down on in stages, political, military and social problems still exist. The rise of the resistance forces, as well as popular discontent with **, could lead to continued unrest and struggle. Min Aung Hlaing has chosen a realistic path in the face of pressure and choices, but this does not mean that the problem is completely solved.
The complexity and uncertainty of the situation in northern Myanmar highlight the challenges at the political, military and social levels. All parties need to strengthen cooperation, jointly resolve regional issues, and make efforts for regional peace and stability. Here, we call on all parties to unite and work together to address the challenges and create a favorable environment for the development and prosperity of northern Myanmar.
The phased crackdown on telecom fraud in northern Myanmar is a positive sign, but it also exposes political, military and social problems. Only through the joint efforts of all parties can we truly resolve the difficult problems in the region and achieve long-term peace and stability.
