OpenAI has launched a new subscription plan for its viral AI chatbot, ChatGPT, for smaller, self-service-oriented teams. The program, called ChatGPT Team, provides a dedicated workspace for teams under 149 people using ChatGPT and management tools for team management.
All users on the ChatGPT team have access to OpenAI's latest models – GPT-4 (generating text), GPT-4 with vision (understanding images in addition to text), and DALL-E 3 (creating images) – as well as tools that allow ChatGPT to analyze, edit, and extract information from uploaded files.
ChatGPT Team also enables team members to build and share GPT, a custom application that generates AI models based on OpenAI's text. GPT doesn't need to be experienced, and can be designed to be simple or complex as needed. For example, GPT can import a company's proprietary library so developers can check its style or generate it based on best practices.
As an added bonus, OpenAI says that ChatGPT Team customers will receive unexplained new features and improvements, and that it won't train models on team data or conversations.
ChatGPT Team's ** is $30 per user per month, or $25 per user per month, billed annually – higher than ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI's personal premium ChatGPT plan, $20 per month). But ChatGPT Team is much cheaper than ChatGPT Enterprise, which costs up to $60 per month (at least 150 users and a 12-month contract).
ChatGPT Team seems to be tailor-made for small and medium-sized business customers who need team-oriented ChatGPT features without having to pay exorbitant fees for it. This is likely to be a lucrative field; According to a recent survey by ResumeBuilder, 49% of companies use ChatGPT for use cases such as coding, creating things like job descriptions and interview questions, wrap-up documents, and meetings, and 30% say they intend to use ChatGPT in the future.
