I have never understood why Huanbi hit the coffin in "The Legend of Zhen Huan". Now that I understand that Liuyu Zi designed her coffin suicide, it is an important turning point in the play, with multiple meanings:
Martyrdom: Huanbi is truly in love with King Guojun, and her suicide can be seen as an expression of despair of love, and it is also the last affectionate loyalty to King Guojun.
Let everyone in the palace cry: Under the social environment and religious concepts at that time, the people of the palace could not publicly express their condolences for the death of King Guojun, and Huanbi's death became a reasonable reason for grief, so that the people of the palace could justifiably express their grief for King Guojun.
Let Zhen Huan also cry justifiably: Huanbi's coffin collision is not only for her love, but also for Zhen Huan. Through this move, Zhen Huan could express condolences for the death of King Guojun without arousing the emperor's suspicion, which to a certain extent protected the pure relationship between Zhen Huan and King Guojun from stigmatization.
Round out the lie of the little minister: Xiaoxiang is Zhen Huan, Huanbi's behavior proves to a certain extent what Zhen Huan said to the emperor before - that is, there is no relationship between her and King Guojun that goes beyond etiquette. This made the emperor believe that King Guojun had not gotten Zhen Huan, but only Huanbi as a substitute.
Enhance the emperor's trust in Zhen Huan: Huanbi's suicide sowed the seeds of Zhen Huan's loyalty in the emperor's heart. In this story, Huanbi's sacrifice is not only the ultimate display of personal emotions, but also a kind of protection for Zhen Huan. Through Huanbi's behavior, the emperor believed in Zhen Huan's loyalty to him even more, further consolidating Zhen Huan's position in the harem.
Huanbi's coffin collision is a complex interweaving of emotions and political strategies, showing the subtle interpersonal relationships and deep emotional entanglements between the characters, which is one of the key points in the plot development of "The Legend of Zhen Huan".
