In our national law, there are three types of penalties for prisoners: fixed-term imprisonment, life imprisonment and the death penalty. Among them, the fixed-term imprisonment is well known to most people, and as long as the sentence is completed, they can be reintegrated into society.
For life imprisonment, you need to serve a lifetime of imprisonment until birth, old age, sickness and death. So, for those life inmates who are old and infirm and unable to take care of themselves, will the prison be responsible for their pension?
In practice, prisons do not have the obligation to provide for prisoners. For some prisoners who have behaved well, the prison will give them a commutation according to their performance, and try to reduce the life sentence to a fixed-term prison sentence as much as possible, so that they have the opportunity to behave actively during their sentence and strive for an early release from prison. For older inmates, they are allowed to be "released on parole" and taken care of by their families.
However, for some offenders who have committed major crimes, parole cannot be allowed even if they are unable to take care of themselves. And for those who commit economic crimes, they may be sentenced to life imprisonment and can only stay in prison for the rest of their lives.
Therefore, for life inmates, they may lose their good youth and live in difficult conditions in their later years. Therefore, each of us should restrain our behavior, abide by the law, and refrain from doing illegal and criminal things.
In general, prison is not a place to retire. And for those who are sentenced to life imprisonment, they need to endure a lifetime of imprisonment and the pain of losing their freedom. Therefore, we should cherish our lives and rights and be good law-abiding citizens.
