For commercial buildings, the demand for heating is not only limited to the temperature standard, but also closely related to energy saving, consumption reduction, stability and comfort. The Grundfos Smart e-Pump Distributed Pumping System solution will reduce carbon emissions to the end, bringing users a comfortable experience with constant temperature while deeply implementing the dual carbon goals, and empowering the green transformation of commercial buildings.

Qinhuangdao has cold winters with large temperature differences. In order to ensure that the Wanda Plaza shopping mall is warm enough, the heating system has been running at full capacity all the time. However, in the event of a high flow of customers and rising temperatures, the mall may become unusually hot, which not only affects the shopping experience, but also causes a lot of energy waste, which is contrary to the low-carbon lifestyle actively advocated by Wanda.

The original heating system of Wanda Plaza belongs to the traditional pumping system, which has many drawbacks. The Grundfos solution for on-demand heating, focusing on energy saving and carbon reduction, uses the Grundfos intelligent e-pump distributed pumping solution, which simplifies the installation process, saves installation space, shortens the construction period and significantly reduces the installed power of the transmission and distribution system while ensuring construction quality.

The essence of on-demand heating is intelligent throttling. In this project, the Grundfos intelligent e-pump was used to achieve fine adjustment of the secondary side partition, which not only better achieved the balance of the system, optimized the comfort, but also greatly improved the energy efficiency of the system.

The Grundfos Smart E Pump TPE3 series of pipeline pumps integrates a pump, motor, inverter and controller to provide a dynamic solution for building applications, with digital flow control through the unique FlowLimit function and the ability to connect to the building management system for flexible operation according to the building's load requirements. A total of 13 TPE3 pumps were stationed in Qinhuangdao Wanda Plaza, which is the main force of the energy-saving renovation project.

O&M personnel use the Grundfos Intelligent Monitoring Platform (GIS) for data visualization management, enabling remote O&M and unattended. The platform uses big data and AI algorithms to not only monitor pump health, potential failures, but also provide strategies for energy-efficient operations.

In partnership with Wangsheng Energy, Grundfos has provided Wanda Plaza with the energy-efficient Smart E-Pump TPE3 series of pipeline pumps and the Grundfos Water Intelligence Monitoring Platform (GIS). After the completion of the renovation, the installed power of the heating system of the shopping mall decreased by more than 50% year-on-year, and the energy-saving rate of the transmission and distribution system exceeded 40%.

The relevant person in charge of Beijing Wangsheng Energy Development pointed out that the new system of Grundfos has performed well and submitted a satisfactory answer to the project.

Grundfos' smart products and solutions address two seemingly contradictory needs – reducing energy consumption and improving comfort. Grundfos has been working with partners to explore new ways to save energy and reduce emissions, helping the industry to embark on the fast track of green transformation and embark on a new low-carbon journey.
