Recently, near the east pier of Lotus Pond Park, a bird smaller than the mallard duck and gorgeous feathers attracted the attention of visitors, and it is understood that this was originally a "ribbed duck". The ribbed duck is relatively rare, and has been included in the State Forestry Administration's "List of Terrestrial Wild Animals with Beneficial or Important Economic and Scientific Research Value Protected by the State" and the "IUCN Red List of Endangered Species", which belongs to the near threatened (NT) level, and this is the first time it has appeared in Lianhuachi Park.

The ribbed duck is a bird of the family of ducks of the order Gooseformes, also known as the Rowan duck, the Rowan duck, the sickle duckling, the sickle duck, the flathead duck, the early duck, and the three ducks. The male bird is chestnut from the top of the head to the back of the neck, the side of the head and the crown feathers are patina, there is a black collar ring at the base of the front neck, the upper body is light gray, densely covered with dark brown wavy fine lines, because the chest, abdomen and flank are densely covered with black and white ripples that gradually decrease from large to small, arranged into an orderly special pattern, which resembles a weave and is called "ribbed duck".

In recent years, with the continuous improvement and transformation of Lianhuachi Park, the lake water treatment project has been carried out in an all-round way to improve water quality, protect biodiversity, create a better ecological environment, and attract many birds to inhabit and stay. In spring and summer, black-winged stilts, yellow-headed wagtails, small, kingfishers, ruddy shelducks and other birds appear in Lianhuachi Park.
