On February 23, it was reported that the Volkswagen Group of the United States is recalling 261,257 vehicles that may have fuel leaks.
According to the recall report of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), due to manufacturing issues, a small number of front-wheel drive models equipped with suction pump seals may fail. This can cause fuel to flow directly into the evaporative discharge system and build up there. If this happens, the fuel may leak through the canister filter. This will increase the risk of spontaneous combustion of the car, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that car owners may experience refueling problems or a noticeable fuel odor.
The issue dates back a few years to a few years ago, when Volkswagen and Audi recalled 110,042 vehicles due to issues with the 2015-2016 model year Golf and A3 fuel systems. The problem concerns the initial version of the suction pump and the improved version, which is 1Version 1, will be replaced after the recall 20 version of the suction pump to solve the problem.
The recalled models include the 2015-2020 Audi A3 sedan and 2015-2019 Audi A3 convertible, the 2019-2020 Volkswagen Jetta Gli, the 2018 Golf Sportwagen GP, the 2018-2019 Golf Sportwagen A-2017 Golf SportWagen, 2015-2020 Golf GTI and 2015-2020 Golf A7.
