French star Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, but he will still be the highest-paid player in Real Madrid's history.

According to reports from Sky Sports and other British **, Mbappe has agreed to sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid and officially joined the La Liga giants on July 1. Mbappe has yet to sign a contract and the two clubs will announce a deal after it is confirmed that they will not meet in this season's Champions League.

The 25-year-old French captain joined PSG from Monaco in 2017 and signed a contract extension in 2022 until 2024. Last summer, Mbappe decided not to exercise the option to extend his contract with the club for another year.

Mbappe receives around £171 million (about S$290 million) a year from PSG in wages and bonuses, but this figure will be much lower after joining Real Madrid. The BBC reported that Mbappe's five-year contract with Real Madrid will cover a £128 million signing fee and an annual salary of £12.8 million. However, Mbappe will still be Real Madrid's highest-paid player, and he can also retain most of his image rights.
