Just after the Spring Festival holiday, 66-year-old Aunt Qin and her family drove back to Wuxi from their hometown in Guizhou, but they did not expect that she had an extremely dangerous pulmonary embolism due to sedentary life for 17 hours. On the 22nd, Zhu Ziyang, deputy director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of the hospital, reminded citizens returning from the Spring Festival to avoid sitting for a long time to prevent thrombosis and pulmonary embolism and other serious consequences.

At 7 o'clock in the morning on February 15, Aunt Qin and her family drove a private car from their hometown in Guizhou to return to Wuxi, which was originally a 14-hour drive, but did not arrive after 17 hours due to traffic jams, and only got off the bus once in the service area on the way. At 1 o'clock in the morning, Aunt Qin was resting in the service area of Shaping Expressway, and after getting out of the car and coming back from the toilet, she suddenly felt weak in her hands and feet and couldn't breathe. Frightened, the family immediately drove off the highway and went to the nearest Tongcheng County People's Hospital for treatment, and after examination, it was diagnosed with acute pulmonary embolism and needed interventional thrombectomy.

Due to the critical condition, as a member of the Hubei Provincial Pulmonary Vascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Alliance, Tongcheng County People's Hospital immediately contacted the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Wuhan Sixth Hospital, drove more than 300 kilometers from Guanghua Road First Aid Station, and successfully transferred Aunt Qin to the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Wuhan Sixth Hospital at 9 pm on the 16th.

Zhu Ziyang, deputy director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of the hospital, introduced that after being admitted to the hospital, he further improved the examination, led the interventional team to carry out pulmonary artery thrombectomy, and successfully removed the thrombus in the blood vessels, relieving Aunt Qin's crisis.

The patient experienced more than 10 hours of driving before the onset of the disease, was sedentary and drank less water in the middle, the blood flow of the lower limbs was slow, and the blood was in a hypercoagulable state, which made the blood of the lower limbs coagulate into blood clots in the blood vessels. After the blood clot gradually falls off, it travels to the lungs and blocks blood vessels in many parts of the lungs, eventually leading to pulmonary embolism. Zhu Ziyang said that pulmonary embolism is mostly acute onset, common symptoms include sudden dyspnea, severe chest pain, hemoptysis, syncope, etc., and deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs is the main thrombus causing pulmonary embolism**.

Zhu Ziyang reminded that it is still in the Spring Festival period, and there are still a lot of people who take long-distance buses, trains, planes and others on the way back, and when taking the first tool for a long time, it is best to get up and move, if the space on the car is limited and you can't walk, you can massage the lower limbs, do flexion and extension and rotate the ankles to promote the return of blood; At the same time, pay attention to drinking plenty of water, which helps to thin the blood and avoid blood thickening and blood clots.
