The Daofu Pumped Storage Project is located in Daofu County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with an altitude of 4,300 meters, a capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts, and a designed annual power generation capacity of 29With 9.4 billion kWh, it is the largest pumped storage project in Sichuan Province and the world's highest large-scale pumped storage power station. The power station is equipped with six 350,000 kW reversible units.

The installed capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts of Daofu pumped storage is complementary to the surrounding photovoltaic power generation, which can adjust the random fluctuating photovoltaic power generation of about 6 million kilowatts into a smooth, stable and high-quality power supply, resulting in the benefit of 1 plus 1 greater than 2. "At present, there is a lack of experience for reference in the construction of large-scale pumping and storage projects in high-altitude areas, and the design and construction of Daofu pumping and storage projects and the manufacture of electrical equipment are extremely exploratory and challenging, and the technical difficulty is the highest in the world. ”

The maximum water head of Daofu pumping and storage is 7607 meters, is the second highest head pumping storage power station in China. The 800-meter-level ultra-high head reversible pumped storage unit needs to operate safely and stably for a long time in complex environments such as high head, high altitude and high speed, which brings great challenges to the R&D and selection of the unit and the stability of the operation of the unit. The high-altitude area also puts forward higher requirements for the insulation level of units and step-up and transformer equipment, and its technical index requirements exceed the current technical level at home and abroad, which needs to be combined with engineering construction to innovate and tackle key problems.
In the eyes of industry insiders, the construction of Daofu pumping and storage project will break through the current technical limitations of pumping and storage, and provide reference and replicable solutions for other high-altitude, high-head, high-insulation difficulty and large-capacity pumping and storage in the industry.

At the same time, Daofu pumped storage can also drive the development and construction of surrounding photovoltaic resources, and it is estimated that the new investment in new energy development will reach 24 billion yuan.

After the Daofu pumping and storage is put into production, it can pay about 1 tax per year400 million yuan.
