Unexpected circumstances on the wedding night
I got married in June of the 70s in a village in the northwest of Shandong, which is also my hometown. At that time, it was an era of poverty and weakness in our country, and the people lived in poverty and lived quite hard. Despite the hardships of life, my wedding was still buzzing on that special day.
On the wedding day, the bride is picked up on horseback, which is a tradition in our village. At that time, the rural areas were still dominated by the production team, and the cadres of the village included the village party secretary and the production team leader. Many villagers and village officials came to my wedding.
Wedding banquets in rural areas are usually set up in the courtyard of the house, with tables, chairs and benches neatly arranged, and the stove room is located in the corner of the courtyard. The stoves are usually made of adobe or red brick, and the cooks are skilled in the village. There were two common wedding banquets in my hometown at that time, one was five bowls and four plates, and the other was Hai'er eight, similar to **. The dining table in the courtyard was crowded with friends and family, all of whom were buzzing to my wedding.
A busy and lively day is fading away. Relatives and friends were sent off, tables, chairs and benches in the yard were cleared, and the sky gradually darkened. Thinking that the bride had been waiting alone in her new house and had never had a chance to eat, I realized that I had been tired and busy all day. It was decided to go into the cave room to rest.
After entering the cave room, I ate with the bride. I felt quite tired after a hard day's work, so I lay down on the kang and prepared to rest. Just as I was falling asleep, the bride woke me up. It was about the middle of the night. I asked her what was wrong, and she said there was laughter and whispering outside the window. I thought to myself, it was unlikely, it was so late, and I decided to go out and check it out.
Pushing open the door, I saw a ridiculous scene. There were two people lying on the windowsill, and two others squatting on the ground. When I looked at it, it turned out that they were in charge of the listening room. I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
In our rural hometown, there are some interesting customs. First of all, the first three days of the wedding are suitable for big and small, and anyone can come to the cave room. Secondly, after the newlyweds enter the cave room at night, someone will eavesdrop on their private conversations outside the window to understand what the newlyweds say after entering the cave room, and pass it on as a joke. These traditional customs have passed over time, decades later, and they are still funny and laughable in retrospect.
