On the afternoon of February 23, the first flight ceremony of the UAV blood transportation route in Nanshan District was held in Huazhong University of Science and Technology Union Shenzhen Hospital (Nanshan Hospital) (hereinafter referred to as "Nanshan Hospital").

With a drone carrying emergency blood slowly landing on the hospital's sky garden platform, the first flight of the UAV low-altitude blood transport route from Shenzhen Blood Center to Nanshan Hospital was a complete success, and the whole "air blood delivery" took only 15 minutes, compared with the original ground transportation of 90 minutes, which won more treatment time for patients.

Nanshan Hospital is one of the important critical and trauma treatment centers in western Shenzhen, with many patients with trauma, severe and blood diseases admitted every year, and the total blood consumption of the hospital will reach 26,600 units in 2023, ranking first in Nanshan District and fifth in the city's hospitals. In addition to the planned delivery of blood from the blood station, the hospital also needs to send people to the blood station every time it encounters an emergency, and last year alone, it sent people to collect blood more than 240 times.

Hu Fenglan, director of the blood transfusion department of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Union Shenzhen Hospital (Nanshan Hospital), said that from Nanshan Hospital to the city blood center, from notifying the driver to take blood to blood retrieval, it takes 90 minutes at the earliest, and it takes longer in the morning and evening traffic rush hours, taking 2 hours, which is very inconvenient for emergency rescue blood. Today, after the successful opening of the low-altitude blood transportation route from Nanshan Hospital to Shenzhen Blood Center, it can be delivered in 15 minutes at the earliest, saving 80% of the time compared with traditional ground transportation. "Air blood delivery" not only breaks the "congestion barrier", realizes fast and accurate distribution, improves transportation efficiency, but also effectively ensures the safety of the blood cold chain, provides a stronger guarantee for the treatment of severe trauma, maternal hemorrhage, blood diseases and other serious patients, and greatly improves the timeliness and efficiency of treatment.

The successful first flight of the UAV blood transportation route marks a solid step forward in the medical application scenario of low-altitude economy in Nanshan District. Xie Xuejun, CEO of Shenzhen Sky Automobile Network, said that low-altitude transportation is more convenient and life rescue is more efficient, which not only reduces the operating costs of medical institutions, but also ensures the safe transportation of medical supplies.
