Whether it is illegal for a teacher to physically punish a student

There are bear children in the family, and many teachers have had such an impulse. But can we, as educators, really "fix" our students as we please? Today, we will talk about this sensitive topic - whether it is illegal for teachers to physically punish students.

Let's start with my own story. When I first became a teacher, I was full of enthusiasm and firmly believed that "strict teachers make high apprentices". But soon, I realized that this degree was really difficult to grasp. Sometimes, a simple punishment can lead to dissatisfaction or even complaints from parents, which makes me feel stressed.

So can a teacher physically punish a student? Let's take a look at what the juvenile protection ** and the teacher law say.

The protection of minors is clearly stipulatedSchools and teachers must not inflict corporal punishment, covert corporal punishment, or other acts that insult the personal dignity of minors. That is, any form of corporal punishment is illegal.

The Teachers Law also points out that teachers shall respect the personality of students, shall not discriminate against students, shall not inflict corporal punishment on students, disguised corporal punishment or other acts that insult personal dignity, and shall not infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of students.

Some teachers may feel constrained by this, but in fact, there are many more effective ways to manage students. For example:

Communication:Establish a good communication channel with students and parents, understand students' needs and problems, and solve problems together.

Bootstrapping:Guide students to recognize their mistakes and stimulate their sense of self-correction, rather than simply punishing them rudely.

Rewards and punishments:Through a reasonable reward and punishment mechanism, students are motivated to be positive and correct their mistakes.

Education is a complex and sacred work that requires us to take care of every student. Although sometimes the idea of "strict teachers produce high apprentices" can get us into trouble, as long as we grasp the right degree and educate students with love and wisdom, I believe they will thrive.
