Sticking to one thing for 30 days will definitely make progress, but it should also be phased in, and the efficiency of progress will be different at different stages.
I hope my writing journey can give you some inspiration.
Before May 2023, I was still groping for writing, and at that time, I didn't have high requirements for myself, so I would write one if I was interested, so the harvest in the 30 days before May, that is, in April, was only a few articles, no more than 5. At that time, I didn't keep a diary, so I didn't get much in the 30 days in April, and I didn't write much and read less.
Until May, I felt that this would not work, so that the rhythmless scribbling may not be able to progress, so I set a goal for myself, write an article of more than 500 words in two days, at first because of the personnel changes in the work was broken for several days, and then after the personnel changes were completed, I began to implement this goal, sometimes write more, sometimes write less, at that time my goal is to write well or not, write it out first.
In June and July, I always encountered the situation that I couldn't write until I wrote 600 words, so I kept writing, and after August, I raised my requirements for myself, requiring that I must write to 1000 words, and I have persevered until now.
So my writing journey May 2023 is a watershed, the 30 days before May are not efficient, the 30 days after May are more efficient, and the 30 days after May are fixed at 15 articles per month, estimated at around 800 words, 800x15=12000, 12000 words a month. Later, after August, it was added to more than 1,000 words, and it became 15,000 words a month.
Now I'm in the third phase, and I'm starting the daily update around January 1st of this year, and the goal was originally 500 words. After persisting for a month, I found that I could write more than 1,000 words per day, and I could write 1,300 to 1,400 words in good condition, so the efficiency in January was 30 articles a month, 30x1,000=30,000 words, which was half the efficiency compared to before.
From the above I know from my own writing experience:
The efficiency of insisting on 30 days at different stages is not the same, practice makes perfect in doing everything, and the more you write, the more you can write, just like a 3-year-old child learning to walk, stumbling at first, and slowly will, it seems that you are born to walk, and writing will be written more.
The fact that I am able to get to where I am today is also the goal I set for myself in May last year with a two-day shift, so I have the ability to write now. I'm not satisfied with my current level, but I'm going to keep working hard and make even more progress.
I'm guessing you're just getting started when you're asking this question.
As you can see from the above, that is, the stage before May last year, people at this stage do things irregularly, they do it when inspiration comes, and they do other things when inspiration leaves, so the progress is very slow.
So if you are at this stage, it is recommended to raise the requirements for yourself like my change in May 2023, such as in the field of writing, and force yourself to write an essay of more than 500 words in two days. This goal is not difficult, there are so many books and articles in this world, just refer to one, and you can write an article.
In addition, learning is a long-term process, and even now, I feel that I still don't understand a lot, and I need to continue to work hard. Sticking to 30 days is just the starting point of a good habit, you should continue it, and then you will find that you have made significant progress, and I am like this, half a year ago I am very different from what I am now.
I've written 200,000 words and read a lot of books on my writing journey now, and I've read more books in the last year than I've ever read in any other year combined.
