The log cart that slowly bypassed the abyss suddenly swooped down at an angle of nearly 60 degrees, and the carriages in which the tourists were riding quickly slid down at flying speeds.

On January 4, 2024, the work created by fan designer Baron von Barron ".Playground Water Coaster II(Working Log Flume II Redesigned + Motorized) received 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas platform, making it the 40th entry selected for the third round of IDEAS review in 2023.

Baron von Barron, the designer of the water amusement park roller coaster, has released a total of 10 pieces since the creation of his account on January 21, 2022, all of which are loved by fans, each of which has won more than 1,000 votes.

Baron von Barron's "Playground Water Coaster" has reached 10,000 votes as early as August 12, 2022, and has been successfully selected for the second review stage of the IDEAS platform in 2022. However, this work was unfortunately rejected in the subsequent announcement of the results.

As a result, he made improvements to the work and resubmitted it. On August 21, 2023, he submitted Playground Water Coaster II, which unexpectedly received 10,000 votes again in just 136 days. This is the third time he has been in the 10,000-vote club.

In addition, another of his works, "Movable Canal Locks", has also entered the third round of IDEAS review in 2023, which is also an outstanding work worth paying attention to.

Designed by Baron von Barron, Playground Water Coaster II is not a simple modification of his previous work, Playground Water Coaster, but a completely new, zero-scratch design.

While at first glance this new edition looks very similar to the first edition, a closer comparison reveals a number of notable differences. The most obvious change is the addition of guard plates on the side of the track to make the outer ** of the roller coaster smoother and neater.

The piece includes a roller coaster track with a log sink, a ticket office ride area that connects to the tracks, a complete drive system driven by an electric motor, a maintenance-free chain elevator, and four roller coaster cars. The roller coaster track measures 38 cm x 94 cm x 32 cm.

Baron made three main changes during the redesign: moving the platform to the other side, replacing the original bottom drive that was not working properly, and shortening the chain to avoid jamming.

Baron found that the first version of the roller coaster track system was running smoothly, so he used the design principles of the first version as the basis for the drive and redesigned the track around the structure. He also added a log-style sink to the track.

In order to increase the experience of visitors, Baron has added two additional small drops in addition to the large slope to create a more complex track layout.

The system is better equipped with electric power, and only one motor (m-motor) is needed for the entire drive train to operate normally. Baron integrates the motor and power supply into the model, avoiding the tedious manual operation and enhancing the gaming experience. In order to hide the electric device, he added an equipment room next to the ride area to make the whole scene more realistic.

The roller coaster system is equipped with four carriages, each with a capacity of two minifigures, and can accommodate up to eight minifigures at the same time.

Baron added seven minifigures to the piece, including a cashier, an operating mechanic, and five tourists, while some critters were hiding in the scene waiting to be discovered.

At the start of the game, the car is propelled by drive rollers, and when the battery-powered M motor starts, it drives the entire drive chain, allowing the roller coaster carriage to run autonomously and climb. The elevator lifts the car to the top while the chain is tightened by counterweights. Once at the top, gravity pushes the car back to the starting point. During the descent, the carriage can be flexibly shuttled in front of the sprinkler.

Baron also provided a diagram of the internal structure of the entire drivetrain and electric unit, a complex system similar to the drive used in the 10303 cycle coaster and 10261 roller coaster, both using chain and tire parts.

Although the coaster also has a cover on the bottom, it's amazing how this piece uses only 3,000 parts, the same as Baron's first version of the coaster, which is really incredible.

Baron was a firm believer in the LEGO Playground collection needed a roller coaster with a sink, so he decided to submit it. Given the IDEAS platform's limit of 3,000 parts, Baron used exactly 3,000 parts in the design of the roller coaster to achieve the best results while following the IDEAS rules.

There aren't any amusement park-themed creations in the Ideas collection yet, and if this one doesn't conflict with the LEGO Icons collection, I think it has the potential to be the first amusement park set in the Ideas collection.
