This kingfisher set is numbered 10331 and is part of the LEGO icons-themed collection. In this broad world of themes, it is not divided into any specific sub-themes, at least from the box. The official LEGO Kingfisher set has been officially released on the LEGO website, and we now introduce you to this LEGO version of the Kingfisher.

The set showcases a kingfisher with an orange-brown belly and dark blue feathers, and also features a black round base plate that simulates a water scene with two cattailgrass plants growing on it. A total of 834 parts are used throughout the Kingfisher including the floor, with an official suggested retail price of 449 yuan, and it is expected to be officially launched on February 1, 2024.

As the second icons set launched this year, this set continues the miniaturization trend of LEGO sets. It's worth mentioning that LEGO Kingfisher is not an exclusive D2C set and will be available at other retailers soon.

LEGO designers cleverly captured the kingfisher's fishing moment with blue birds and water surface designs. The entire kingfisher model stands on a black pedestal painted with swirling water and cattails. Details such as the streamlined design of the kingfisher's chest, its delicate head, its black beak, and the dense arrangement of feathers on its wings that seem to have been immersed in water are all in place.

All details are built from LEGO bricks without the use of any stickers. It is worth mentioning that the kingfisher did catch a fish that can be seen in its mouth. This fish is not the usual LEGO fish parts, but is made up of multiple parts and is slightly enlarged.

In addition to the realistic appearance of the front, the degranulation of the kingfisher's back is also so good that it is almost impossible to find fault with it, and the way the grass is built is also unique.

The set includes a new color of parts that may excite MOC enthusiasts: 2 in 2 arc inverted corner tiles in clear white. Originally introduced in 21060 Himeji Castle, this part is now available in transparent white for the first time to create a splash effect. In addition, the relatively new palm leaf parts appear for the first time in sand blue in this set.

Lifestyle**:

While we've talked a lot about LEGO Kingfisher sets, you might also be wondering: what kind of bird is a blue kingfisher?

In fact, the set's LEGO designer, Sven Frannic, showed us the LEGO Kingfisher at last year's Fan Day and introduced us to the bird.

Blue Kingfisher. According to him, the Azure Kingfisher, whose scientific name is Ceyx Azureus, is a subspecies of the Kingfisher in the Australian region, named for its bright sky-blue plumage. The blue kingfisher is smaller, with a body length of about 17-19 cm, a wingspan of 25-29 cm, and a weight of about 40 grams.

The feathers of this bird are colorful and have a unique luster. The head and back feathers are blue, the chest and abdomen show a vivid orange or reddish-brown color, and the wings are dotted with some black feathers. The back of the neck and throat have white spots, while the tip of the lower tail is mottled grayish-black. Its mouth is thick and straight and black, long and pointed, and feeds mainly on small fish.
