The rapid development of generative AI has brought challenges to information content governance, and more people have begun to pay attention to the possible technical risks in intelligent ethics, intellectual property protection, privacy and personal data protection.
On August 15, 2023, the Interim Measures for the Administration of Generative AI Services (hereinafter referred to as the "Interim Measures") issued by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and various ministries and commissions will come into effect. It is clear that "the innovative application of generative AI technology in various industries and fields is encouraged, high-quality content that is positive, healthy, and upward for good, and application scenarios are explored and optimized, and an application ecosystem is built." Gu Bingzhong, vice chairman of the China Computer Users Association, believes that in the training process of large models, it is necessary to pay attention to the protection of rights, and obvious copyright infringement should be stopped in time. For example, the meteorological model trained by using the data of the Meteorological Bureau should be authorized by the right holder to standardize the use of data from the source.
In the initial stage of generative AI, there can be more tolerance and time for copyright to be verified, and it is necessary to follow up in a timely manner and further study the problems that may be raised, but not to rush to conclusions.
