On October 19, 1950, the Volunteer Army entered the Korean War, and on the 25th, the first battle of our army with one army in the Eastern Front with the main force of the Korean People's Army, and the other five armies were assembled to launch the ** on the Western Front, in fact, in the first campaign, we particularly noticed that at that time and the Volunteer Army fought side by side with the main force of the Korean People's Army, in fact, the Korean People's Army was still relatively tenacious, only after encountering the US army, it was gradually defeated.
The Korean People's Army can be traced back to the period of the Anti-Japanese War, in 1932, the Korean people spontaneously formed the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, due to the lack of anti-Japanese strength in North Korea, and later a part of it entered the northeast region of our country, at that time there were many Koreans in the Anti-Japanese Union, although they were fighting in a foreign country, but because they were also resisting Japanese aggression, so the friendship with our army was very deep, and later after the Anti-Japanese Union withdrew into the territory of the Soviet Union, it was incorporated into the 88th Far East Infantry Brigade by the Soviet Union.
There is also a part of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, in 1939 in Yan'an led by Kim Kebong of the Korean Volunteer Army, which at that time, it should be a school, the purpose is to train talents for the founding of the DPRK after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, and later developed to more than 1,000 people, during the Liberation War, the Korean Volunteer Army also followed our army to the northeast, and later formed a unit dominated by Koreans, before the outbreak of the Korean War, at the request of the Korean people, these troops were withdrawn to the country one after another.
It is worth mentioning that among these teams, the more famous is Li Hongguang's detachment, Li Hongguang is a famous Korean anti-Japanese general, the main founder of the South Manchurian anti-Japanese guerrillas, on May 12, 1935, unfortunately died in the bullet, at the age of only 25, and later in North China Korean volunteers, spontaneously used Li Hongguang to make the name of the detachment, after the end of the Anti-Japanese War developed to more than 2,000 people, in 1946 some Japanese troops who refused to let go of ** rioted in the Tonghua area of Liaoning, Li Hongguang's detachment quickly rushed to Pingding** and made great contributions.
Li Hongguang's detachment was later reorganized into the 166th Division of Siye, and similar units included the 164th Division, which was reorganized from the guerrillas in the North Manchurian region, and the 156th Division, which was formed and reorganized with the cadres and cadets of the Taihang Cadre Academy as the backbone, as well as some regimental and battalion-level Korean ethnic formation units (subdivisions), and even special forces such as artillery and railway troops. Among them, the 156th Division formed by the cadres and the academy of the Taihang Academy had the strongest combat effectiveness, and the special equipment was the 422nd Regiment under it, which later became the first division and one regiment of the Korean People's Army.
At the same time, the tension in North Korea also forced both sides to recruit soldiers on a large scale, at first the scale of the Korean People's Army was not large, only two divisions and two battalions, and later after the outbreak of the Korean War, the size of the Korean People's Army began to expand, but at the beginning because the South Korean Defense Force was not ready to actually participate in the war, so the Korean People's Army was almost invincible, especially after the War of Resistance and even the three-year Chinese Liberation War, it was even more brave and resolute.
However, as the US-led joint ** entered the DPRK one after another, the advantages of the Korean People's Army in the early stage were exhausted, and the Korean People's Army began to forcibly recruit soldiers from the people in large numbers, and even many child soldiers appeared. At the same time, because this was too close to the Chinese border, China made the decision to send Chinese volunteers into Korea to participate in the war.
At that time, in the process of the Volunteer Army's march, they could often meet the soldiers of the Korean People's Army who had retreated on the way, and these soldiers were also very familiar with our army, and even some soldiers could speak fluent Northeast dialect. But later it turned out that there was nothing that the powerful Chinese People's Volunteer Army could not defeat.
