According to overseas ** reports, at this year's electronics show (CES), Mercedes-Benz brought the long-awaited prototype of the electric version of the G-class for the first time, the body is covered with a layer of blue and black camouflage, and it is reported that the car will soon be put into mass production.

Judging from the exterior of the prototype on display, the exterior of the electric G-Wagen basically retains the original styling and features of the original model. The rear spare wheel is hidden inside the square lid, and the linear lines and flat bonnet continue to pay homage to the original G-Wagen.

Mercedes-Benz has not officially released detailed specifications for the car, but industry insiders have analyzed that the new car will be equipped with at least two electric motors for full-time all-wheel drive, and it should also be available with an optional four-motor powertrain, and allow 360-degree rotation by driving the wheels on both sides of the SUV in opposite directions.

It's unclear whether the production car will use the EQG name to align with other EVs in Mercedes' portfolio. It is also possible to use the G-Class name directly, after all, the prototype shown at CES has a license plate that says G-Class.

The production version of the all-new Mercedes electric SUV is expected to debut in 2024 and hit the market in 2025.
