Life, if closely linked to the noble mission of the times, is like a bright star, eternal and immortal. - Chernyshevsky.
In today's prosperous era, children's happiness is like a bright pearl, and they are cared for by their families and nannies. With a wide variety of toys and endless ways to entertain, every family's little one is regarded as the jewel of the palm. However, have we ever thought that in the turbulent years before the founding of the People's Republic of China, there was a child who not only contributed to the party and the country in an extremely difficult environment, but even sacrificed his own life and became the youngest martyr? He is the anti-Japanese hero who will always shine in primary and secondary school textbooks - "Little Radish Head".
The original name of the little radish head was Song Zhenzhong, and the milk name was Sensen. From the name "Zhenzhong", we seem to feel the deep patriotism of his parents. In fact, Song Zhenzhong's father Song Qiyun and mother Xu Linxia were both loyal Communist Party members, and Song Qiyun was General Yang Hucheng's right-hand man. All of them are committed to the great cause of the party and the country.
However, in 1941, Song Qiyun's Communist Party identity was exposed, and he was imprisoned with his wife and children. At that time, Song Zhenzhong was only eight months old, and before he could appreciate the diversity of this world, he was forced to start a dark prison life. The conditions in the prison were extremely difficult, with more than a dozen people crammed into a small room of just over 10 square meters, plagued by mosquitoes and lacked food. In such an environment, Song Zhenzhong gradually grew up under the care of his mother. However, due to malnutrition, he was much shorter than his peers, with a yellow face and thin muscles, hence the name "Little Radish Head".
Despite the adversity, the little radish head became sensible early. At the age of five, he learned to mend socks to share his mother's labor. When he was six years old, his father, Song Qiyun, ventured a request to let him go out of prison to study. After some struggle, the enemy finally agreed to let Comrade Luo Shiwen, a "political prisoner," teach him to study. Mr. Luo not only taught him to be patriotic, but also taught him to distinguish between right and wrong, and became an important mentor in his life. Unfortunately, however, Mr. Luo was soon killed by the enemy. After that, the task of teaching Xiao Zhenzhong was given to General Huang Xiansheng. Xiao Zhenzhong was hungry for learning, and Mr. Huang not only taught him Chinese and mathematics, but also taught him Russian in order to pass on information while the agents were watching.
Song Zhenzhong has an extremely precious treasure - a pencil. This was a gift from Mr. Huang when he was eight years old. He has always been reluctant to use it, and usually writes only with small stones he picks up to make marks on the ground. Despite the difficult conditions, Song Zhenzhong never gave up studying. He longed for knowledge, he longed for freedom, and he always had hope in his heart.
However, fate is not lenient on the little turnip head. On September 6, 1949, only 24 days before the founding of the People's Republic of China, General Yang Hucheng was brutally killed. The little radish head family is also doomed. At that time, Song Zhenzhong was playing carefree with General Yang's daughter. Song Qiyun knew the fate she was about to face, and begged to let them go. However, before they could finish speaking, the couple collapsed in a pool of blood. The two children were so frightened that the spy ruthlessly choked Song Zhenzhong's neck. He struggled and cried out, "I'm not guilty, I'm going out!" However, the executioner's sharp knife pierced him in the chest. The nine-year-old hero died in prison in this way, failing to witness the birth of New China, failing to realize his wish to eliminate the reactionaries, or even looking at the blue sky and white clouds outside.
After the Little Radish family was killed, the enemy also brutally filled the ground with cement in an attempt to destroy the evidence. It was not until after the founding of the People's Republic of China that their bodies were rediscovered and properly placed. People found that at the last moment of Song Zhenzhong's life, what he was holding tightly in the palm of his hand was the pencil tip that he cherished the most. This scene brought tears to the eyes of everyone present.
So, after Song Zhenzhong's sacrifice, what happened to his family? The other six children of Song Qiyun and his wife, who remained in Xi'an that year, were all taken care of by the party organization in northern Shaanxi. Later, they all grew into people with lofty ideals in all walks of life and contributed their own strength to the prosperity and strength of the motherland. Among them, the eldest sister inherited the legacy of her parents and became an excellent Communist Party member. She led her younger brothers and sisters to work hard together, writing a new chapter in the journey of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
