The young female homeowner studied in France, pursued pure white and antique texture, and had a soft spot for French romance. During the design phase, construction of the house has begun, but the owner is not satisfied with the original design.

She longed for French lines, rattan elements, timber floors, arched doors and soft white sofas, and especially for the living room furnishings to be unconventional. It seems simple, but it is quite complicated to consider aesthetics and practicality in life.

Original house type & problem combing

The initial unit size is 163 square meters, which is well lit and airy, with huge west-facing curved windows with views of the Qiantang River. After understanding the requirements, the designer asks the following questions:

The living room needs to add a sense of French romance and adjust the layout to create a sense of casualness.

Adjust the position of the second bedroom door and add a walk-in closet.

Optimize the relationship between the secondary bathroom and the cloakroom to improve storage capacity.

The design of louvered folding doors + folding windows is introduced to achieve spatial transparency and mottled light and shadow.

Floor plan

Now let's take a look at the design of this new home.

Living room

The home becomes a kind of spiritual world, and the space is no longer just functional, but also extends to aesthetics. The living room abandons the traditional solidified style, blends French and vintage, with harmonious tones, quiet and natural.

Herringbone parquet flooring throughout, with delicate plaster moulding and cream wainscoting, creates a light and warm tone.

The carved patterns of the fireplace and lamp plate in the living room are a little more intricate, but they complement the lines of the modern sofa, creating a perfect combination of French style and modern simplicity.

The overall open living room blends French romance with medieval colors, simple but exquisite. The furnishings are unconventional, with sofas and TVs in front of the window placed at will, coffee tables, corner cabinets, carpets, and lounge chairs arranged freely, revealing a relaxed atmosphere.

Pleated floor lamps and straw hat lamps echo each other to form a soothing rhythm.

Louvered folding doors and open shelves make the living room bright and free, and the view of the river and the roof of the building is shaded by curtains.

The open shelves replace the closed cabinets, which are integrated with the wall color and have a strong sense of wholeness. The plaster line on the wall outlines the elegant outline, and the flowers and plants decorate the space, adding a pleasant atmosphere to life. The female owner designs different flower arrangements in different seasons and enjoys a leisurely French afternoon tea time.

Restaurant

Through the open dining room landscape, the pre-loved dining table and chairs and the wall clock vividly show the lifestyle and aesthetic taste of the homeowner.

Compared with the romantic and light living room, the dining room is more calm and stable, with black furniture becoming the visual focus and rattan elements injecting a touch of natural atmosphere.

Most of the furniture is purchased online, and the special pre-loved dining table has semi-curved corners for warmth, and the legs are meticulously detailed.

Gold accents bring a touch of joy to the space, and delicate embossed cups and vintage decorative paintings further enrich the details of the space.

Kitchen

Designed as a separate Chinese and Western kitchen, the western kitchen is connected to the restaurant and shares a cream-colored tone. The folding windows complement the folding doors of the living room, creating an elegant and romantic atmosphere.

The Chinese kitchen concentrates the fireworks of the home, and the small flower tiles and avocado tones bring a fresh and pleasant feeling. Simplifying the lines and reducing the decorative details of the cabinets makes the kitchen look more uniform.

The owner of the house has a very high demand for details, and has chosen a kitchen equipment with high appearance, which is fully functional and can maintain a pleasant mood when cooking.

Master bedroom

Old-fashioned radiators are used under the two small windows, restoring the French effect of European houses. The bedside table has a cantilevered design with a retro design feel. At dusk, with the aromatherapy, enjoy the warmth of the sun shining in the room, and make you want to snuggle up in the quilt all day.

The walls continue the color of milk tea, and the soft furnishings pursue lazy nature, creating a soft atmosphere suitable for sleeping. The silk texture of the bedding collides with the chocolate-shaped bedside parapet, combined with the retro flower-shaped wallpaper, forming a very ornamental decoration.

A carpet at the foot of the bed and a shearling chair and a floor lamp like a blooming lily elegantly form an idyllic nook for relaxation.

Master Guard

The avocado green color scheme echoes the design of the kitchen, and the old wall tiles, the second-hand washbasin, and the bathtub are all full of stylish and sophisticated French atmosphere.

The opening of the balcony of the equipment provides a better view, the freestanding cast iron bathtub becomes the finishing touch to the space, and the white gauze curtain adds interest in light and shadow.

Every day here to face the sunset bubble bath, you can ** tired all day.

Since only the owner usually lives, the bedroom with the best view is changed to a combination of leisure balcony + study, and the cloakroom is separated from the slightly less lit place.

Cloakroom

The door was moved slightly, so that the layout of the cloakroom changed from a U-shape to a hollow-shaped shape, and the storage capacity was doubled. The double-row wardrobes are sorted and stored according to needs.

Balcony

Next to the cloakroom, the study is connected to a relaxing balcony, and large floor-to-ceiling windows provide excellent views.

The lounge balcony allows you to enjoy the sunset, and the light and shadow of the louvered folding doors add a touch of time to the space.

The green plants in the corner of the balcony echo the natural scenery outside the window, the river and the distant mountains reflect each other into a painting, and when you look out of the window, fatigue is instantly **.

Study

The wooden wall shelving system presents a classic and warm design, which is high-end and practical. The walnut second-hand shelves, desks and chairs, and the Changhong glass sliding door, present casual sophistication and nature.

The heroine is a fan of Stefanie Sun, and there are many idols' records on the shelves in the study.

Second bedroom

Although the parents do not live there often, they want to have a room for them that they like. Cotton and linen fabrics and simple line decoration create a warm atmosphere in the room.

The balcony abandons the traditional glass sliding door and adopts a louvered folding door, which is beautiful and has enough barrier without hindering the lighting in the interior.

The second bedroom is also in cream white as the main color, with some earth tones, elegant and stable.

By optimizing the spatial relationship between the living room and the bedroom, simplifying the wall modeling, and striving to restore the original sense of European houses, coupled with gypsum lines, flower plates, herringbone floors, arched doors, white sofas, rattan chairs, retro lamps and other detailed decorations, the whole design is more French retro, so that the home gradually becomes the owner's favorite appearance, although the process is a little difficult, but full of power.
