Reform and opening up was a great turning point in China's history, which brought about profound social changes and economic development. However, in recent years, some people have been skeptical and critical of the contribution of reform and opening up. They claim that collective production and lifestyles are better, and blame the corruption of reform and opening up. However, we cannot ignore the tremendous achievements brought about by reform and opening up. Only by objectively evaluating the impact of reform and opening up from the historical height can we have a more comprehensive understanding and view of this issue.
Reform and opening up is an inevitable choice for China to move towards modernization, and it is also the key to increasing the well-being of the people. Since the beginning of reform and opening up, China's economy has developed rapidly, and the people's living standards have improved significantly. Emancipating the mind, opening up the market, and introducing foreign capital have all provided strong support for the development of the national economy. In this context, Nanjie Village has been cited as a successful case of village and town economy. Driven by the reform and opening up, this village has realized the transformation from poverty to affluence, and has set a model for village development. However, we must understand that the success of Nanjie Village does not mean that this development model existed before the reform and opening up, but that it was achieved under the impetus of the reform and opening up.
Looking back on the past, collective production and life before reform and opening up were not as good as people imagined. As I mentioned in the introduction, as a real post-60s rural person, I personally experienced those difficult years. Lack of food and clothing, and the difficulties of life are memories that none of us can forget. The incident in which the production team distributed eight red bowls was also one of the things that impressed me deeply. In order to distribute the eight bowls equally, we had an afternoon or even an all-night meeting, and the end result was that the bowl was smashed, and the person who smashed the bowl was sentenced to ** two years. Such a thing is unimaginable in today's reform and opening up, but in that special era, people's rights and youth are not worth a few bowls.
There is also a limit to equality under collective production and lifestyle. Families working in commune grain stations, food stations, supply and marketing cooperatives, etc., enjoy more abundant food, meat, and cloth than ordinary people. Their privileged position is intimidating to ordinary citizens, and the coaxing appearance of their cowhide makes people envious and jealous. The injustices brought about by such privilege and corruption are also self-evident. Therefore, the tremendous achievements brought about by reform and opening up cannot be denied just because of the superficial equality in the period of collective production. An important achievement of reform and opening up is to create more opportunities and models for all people, so that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their own happiness and success.
Reform and opening up not only emancipated the mind, but also allowed people to gain material and spiritual freedom. Since the reform and opening up, China has achieved unprecedented economic growth and social progress. The rapid development of the economy has brought about a significant improvement in the people's living standards, and the abundant material conditions and broader space for development have allowed people to have more choices and opportunities. Free space for expression and freedom of movement also allow people to express their opinions and pursue their dreams more freely.
I do not deny the problems and difficulties existing in the process of reform and opening up, but this does not mean that we should deny the great achievements of reform and opening up. It is an objective historical fact that the reform and opening up of the Chinese people have made the Chinese people rich. We ordinary people have not studied the theory of Marxism-Leninism, but we can feel the changes in our lives. As an ordinary farmer, I have personally experienced the good days brought about by reform and opening up. I now have enough food, clothing, and freedom of speech and movement. These changes have given me full confidence in reform and opening up, and I believe that our party will be able to properly handle the existing problems.
Even though there are some problems and difficulties in my life, I am still optimistic about the future of reform and opening up. I don't want to go back to the big group life of the past, where I was hungry and cold. The lack of food and clothing, the restriction of speech, and the restriction of movement under the collective mode of production are things that I do not want to experience again. Of course, I have no illusions about the current social problems, but I believe that our party and ** can lead us to a better future.
In the face of those who shout that the good of the big collective, I hope that they will not just pay lip service to support, but really take action to build a new commune and return to their ideal way of life. If you succeed, I would like to congratulate you wholeheartedly and be happy to accept your imitation. However, I believe that they will not do so, because they know that the opportunities and benefits brought by reform and opening up cannot be replaced. I am satisfied with my current life, although there are some social problems, but I believe that our party and ** can handle these problems well.
In short, reform and opening up is an inevitable choice for us to move toward modernization, and it has brought earth-shaking changes to the people. We must not completely negate the great achievements of reform and opening up because of temporary problems and doubts. We should be considerate of the impact of reform and opening up from a historical perspective, set our eyes on the future, and strive for common development and progress.
