What the? Canada is joining the Hague Convention!

The latest notice from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Canada: On March 8, 2023, China acceded to the Convention on the Abolition of the Legalization Requirements for Foreign Public Documents, which will enter into force for China on November 7, 2023. Canada acceded to the Convention on 12 May 2023, and the Convention will enter into force for Canada on 11 January 2024 in accordance with the compliance arrangements. Prior to this, the current practice of document exchanges between China and Canada will be maintained, and the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Canada will continue to accept consular legalization of relevant official documents.

To put it simply, Canada will join the Hague Convention on January 11, 2024, and Canada's documents can be used for Hague member countries (including China), and you can apply for Canadian apostille for interoperability, and there is no need to further apply for embassy certification! This not only saves the time of processing, but also saves the cost of processing

The Hague process in Canada: notarization by a notary public, certified by the Canadian province.
