The two induction cookers at home, which have not been used for many years, are already full of dust on the upper floor. I was surprised to find that very few people I knew would choose to use an induction cooker for cooking. Why is it that more and more people in modern society are resistant to induction cookers, and would rather buy gas canisters than try the delicious cooking of induction cookers? In fact, the once-thriving induction cooker is fading into obscurity due to its obvious defects, and the number of people using it is decreasing.
During my time in renting, I also used an induction cooker. Now, I would like to share with you some of the significant drawbacks of induction cooktops that have made me no longer interested in using them for everyday cooking.
First of all, let's talk about the power consumption of induction cooktops – this is definitely a drawback that should not be overlooked! Typically, induction cooktops are incredibly powerful, hovering around several kilowatts, and are therefore extremely power-hungry. Looking back on a month in the past, I used to stir-fry on the induction cooker almost every day, and at the end of the month, I found that the electricity bill was staggeringly high, far exceeding my expectations. It can be seen that the use of gas** is more economical in comparison.
Secondly, the effect of induction cookers for cooking delicious dishes is not as good as it could be. Since the heating method is mainly concentrated at the bottom of the pot rather than on the sides, it is very easy to heat the ingredients unevenly and even burn. In contrast, traditional gas stoves are more capable of cooking a wide range of dishes. In particular, ancient Chinese cooking techniques included high-frequency spoon-turning techniques, but induction cookers could not achieve this action, resulting in dishes with mediocre taste. In addition, the performance of the common electric wok on the market is far better than that of induction cooker in practical applications, especially in the process of long-term stewing, which avoids frequent tripping and power failure; At the same time, the electric wok is small in size and moderate in weight, which is easy to carry. In this way, the induction cooker is significantly inferior to the electric woks in terms of portability, so there is a big gap with the latter in terms of convenience.
In addition, the shape of the cooker is very easy to change, which is undoubtedly one of the important reasons restricting its wide application. In fact, no matter what brand of fan induction cooker, there are few pots and pans that can last for months while the shape of the bottom remains the same. In this way, the pot only has one specific point that fits snugly against the induction cooktop panel, requiring more effort and stamina during cooking. In addition, the pots and pans are too heavy, which makes the induction cooker a little inconvenient for scenarios that require light equipment, such as traveling.
Then, the waterproof performance of the induction cooker is worrying. Although it is inevitable that the bottom of the pan will be splashed when stir-frying in the kitchen environment, the electrical equipment that gets wet with water is easy to cause electrical failures, which brings great inconvenience to use. Two induction cooktops that I have used myself have caused a short circuit in the circuit board and eventually become scrapped altogether.
Finally, the cockroach infestation problem is also one of its many drawbacks. Cockroaches are known to burrow inside unused or undermaintained appliances to breed, and induction cooktops happen to provide them with an ideal place to live. According to statistics, in less than a month on average, the induction cooker may be short-circuited or even burned out due to cockroaches entering the circuit board.
To sum up, we can clearly conclude that although induction cookers have the advantages of rapid heating and easy operation, they are lacking in many aspects such as safety, reliability and practicability, and are not suitable for continuous stir-frying operations for a long time. For those who love to cook or cook at home all year round, a traditional gas stove is still the best choice. Of course, as a relatively new device with unique functions, an induction cooker can still be used.
