In the war-torn revolutionary era, for the birth of New China, countless enthusiastic young people resolutely joined the revolutionary team led by the Communist Party with a pure heart. They fought to the death against the enemy for the country and the people, and contributed everything they had to the great cause of the revolution.
In our revolutionary ranks, in addition to the brave and fearless male soldiers, there are also countless female fighters who are resolute, strong, and heroic. They fought side by side with male soldiers in the long march of 10,000 miles with a heroic and fearless spirit, and at the same time took care of the wounded and sick, making indelible contributions to the victory.
Liu Wenzhi, an ordinary but legendary female soldier of the Red Army, joined the revolution from a child daughter-in-law, she showed fearless hardships and indomitable spirit in the Long March, leading the whole platoon through the long march, only two people died in the platoon, and at the same time saved the wife of a founding general.
Her deeds deserve our deep thought and admiration.
Liu Wenzhi's family is poor, her parents are busy with farm work, and as the eldest child in the family, she is young but has great responsibilities. While her younger siblings were crying, she lit a fire and cooked while taking care of them.
Despite the hard work of the parents, the family's life has not improved, and food and clothing have become a big problem. At that time, other children were already in school, but Liu Wenzhi could only help his parents with farm work or take care of his younger siblings.
Before sunrise, Liu Wenzhi got up, busily fed the pigs and chickens, and then climbed the mountain to chop wood. In the early morning before her parents returned home, she cooked and looked after her crying siblings.
It is often said that the children of the poor are in charge of the family at an early age. Indeed, Liu Wenzhi, who has been tempered by life since childhood, has gradually formed an independent and tenacious personality, and is more mature than his peers.
However, as the younger siblings grew up, the family labor force did not increase, but the amount of food continued to grow.
Liu Wenzhi looked at his parents with worried faces, and his younger siblings were malnourished and emaciated. For the sake of her family, she agreed to her parents' decision to let her go to someone else's house as a child daughter-in-law.
However, life is not easy, and the daily housework and farm work are heavy, and the slightest mistake will be scolded. This kind of life made Liu Wenzhi feel extremely depressed, and she began to despair about life.
Just when she was feeling hopeless, a detachment of the Red Army came to her hometown.
While Liu Wenzhi was working in the fields, he suddenly saw a military team enter the village. The villagers, who had no knowledge of the Communist Party and the army, were oppressed by reactionary forces such as warlords, and were so frightened that they wanted to hide in the mountains when they saw the soldiers.
Liu Wenzhi was no exception, and he fled to the mountains with the villagers. The Red Army soldiers did not get angry because of the rejection of the villagers, but silently helped them with farm work and chatted with them about family life.
For ordinary people's things, even if they are placed in front of them, they will never touch them, let alone steal and rob. The villagers gradually realized that this was a different kind of team, a team that really fought for the poor, and soon the villagers accepted the Red Army and treated the fighters as if they were their own relatives.
Moreover, many young people volunteered to join the Red Army. During this period, 21-year-old Liu Wenzhi saw the dawn of hope, joined the ranks of the Red Army, and embarked on the road of revolutionary struggle.
The long march was full of hardships and challenges, but he always had firm faith and forged ahead bravely.
After Liu Wenzhi joined the Red Army, she was assigned to the women's platoon, and although it was called a platoon, it was actually only her and two female comrades-in-arms. The main task of the women's platoon was to help the male fighters of the unit sew and mend clothes, but due to the large number of male soldiers in the Red Fourth Army, the workload of the three female fighters was too great.
As a result, Liu Wenzhi began to widely publicize the aims of the Red Army among the people, so that the masses could understand that only by uniting could they overthrow the reactionary forces and lead a happy life.
With his active advocacy and guidance, Liu Wenzhi attracted more and more ordinary people to join the ranks of the Red Army, and the number of women in the platoon gradually increased from three to more than 80.
Her excellent work ability and professionalism were highly praised by her superiors, and soon after, she was appointed platoon commander of the women's platoon of the Red Army. With the failure of our party's fifth anti-encirclement campaign, the Red Army began a long long march of 10,000 miles.
Liu Wenzhi and her younger brother also followed the Red Army and embarked on this arduous journey.
On the road of the Long March, the difficulties and challenges faced by the Red Army were everywhere. Although Liu Wenzhi is thin and weak, he is firm in his heart and smart and smart. She was not only responsible for directing the soldiers of the women's platoon on the march, but also caring for the sick or wounded male soldiers.
She is not afraid of tiredness, cares about others wholeheartedly, and silently tells herself: "No matter how hard and difficult, we must support each other, and no one can be left behind." ”
The Red Army at that time, their hardships were unimaginable to modern people. Most of the warriors wore straw sandals on their feet, and they were constantly walking, on rough mountain roads, which made the straw sandals wear out very quickly.
The soldiers could only weave straw sandals during the march, and Liu Wenzhi's women's platoon kept weaving straw sandals when they did not rest. On the road of the Long March, Liu Wenzhi did not have the slightest fear in the face of the enemy's artillery fire, and she led the sisters of the women's platoon to break through the enemy's multiple blockade lines together with the Red Army.
In the face of harsh environments, Liu Wenzhi often felt powerless, and many soldiers did not fall under the attack of the enemy, but died in the snow-capped mountains or grasslands. The climate on the snow-capped mountains is very cold, oxygen is thin, breathing is difficult, and most of the time it is shrouded in dense fog.
It is very dangerous to climb over the snowy mountains, the road is slippery, and you may encounter an avalanche at any time.
In June 1935, when the Red Army went north and crossed Jiajin Mountain, Liu Wenzhi carried the women's platoon on his back and walked at the forefront of the team with difficulty. When they were about to reach the top of the mountain, a female warrior named Zhang Wen suddenly lost her strength and could not even lift her feet, and fell into the snow every two steps.
Seeing this, Liu Wenzhi did not hesitate to pick up the equipment for Zhang Wen, dragged Zhang Wen hard, and stumbled forward. However, Zhang Wen's state is getting worse and worse, and he almost gives up.
She said to Liu Wenzhi, you guys go quickly, leave me alone. But Liu Wenzhi resolutely refused and encouraged Zhang Wen to hold on a little longer, he would never give up on her.
Liu Wenzhi and the head of the management section worked together to help Zhang Wen climb to the top of the mountain. However, the sudden wind and heavy snow made the descent extremely difficult. However, it is more dangerous to stay in the mountains.
Therefore, Liu Wenzhi decisively ordered everyone to go down the mountain as soon as possible from the other side. Under the careful care of Liu Wenzhi and the head of the management section, Zhang Wen struggled down the mountain with the soldiers, and finally successfully crossed the snow-capped mountain.
Zhang Wen, who was younger than Liu Wenzhi, later became the wife of the founding general Hong Xuezhi. Whenever he recalled this experience in the Snow Mountain, Zhang Wen was full of gratitude to Liu Wenzhi, if it weren't for her, he might have died in the Snow Mountain.
This experience also gave rise to a deep love between Zhang Wen and Liu Wenzhi.
Liu Wenzhi led the women's platoon, united and helped each other, and completed the Long March through hardships. Only two fighters in the platoon died. After that, they entered the quilt factory under the leadership of Liu Wenzhi and began to sew quilts for the soldiers.
Here, Liu Wenzhi met her love.
Liu Wenzhi selflessly rescued many comrades-in-arms during the Long March, but the specific number is difficult to count, and Xie Yuanchang is one of them. Although the two were not impressed at the time.
Today, Xie Yuanchang serves as the head of logistics and the direct leader of the clothing factory. When the logistics department was allocating dormitories, Liu Wenzhi found a thatched hut suitable for women to live in, so he proposed that it be assigned to female comrades because of the many inconveniences they faced in life.
Xie Yuanchang's guards insisted on giving the house in good condition to the leader, because the leader's work was too hard. When Xie Yuanchang learned about it, he criticized the guards and gave up the house to the female soldiers.
Liu Wenzhi was deeply moved by Xie Yuanchang's selfless behavior and had a good impression of him. And Xie Yuanchang was also attracted by Liu Wenzhi's eloquence and concern for his subordinates, and later found out that she was still his life-saving benefactor, and the emotions in his heart became more complicated.
They came together because of their common ideals, and in 1937, the blessings of their comrades-in-arms witnessed their happy love. Although their married life was sweet, they gathered less and left more for the revolutionary cause, silently supporting the soldiers at the front, so that they could worry about the future and kill the enemy wholeheartedly.
They are small characters, but they are big heroes.
Liu Wenzhi and his wife, who have silently dedicated their lives to the cause of the Chinese revolution, have never complained although they live separately in two places. Liu Wenzhi was conscientious and responsible in his work, and wholeheartedly contributed to the construction of New China.
After retiring, she returned to Yan'an, full of satisfaction. On September 28, 2020, Liu Wenzhi died of illness at the age of 108.
In that dark old feudal era, Liu Wenzhi broke through the shackles of feudal etiquette and religion with the perseverance of a woman, and resolutely devoted himself to the revolutionary cause.
On the arduous road of the Long March, with her firm will and outstanding leadership skills, she led the female soldiers to overcome many difficulties and successfully completed the tasks of the Long March. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Liu Wenzhi obeyed the party's arrangements and made efforts for the construction and development of New China in obscurity.
It is precisely because of such outstanding revolutionary fighters as Liu Wenzhi that we are able to have a happy life today.
