In the festive atmosphere of the founding of New China, Ye Lanying, a citizen of Chongqing, went to the market to buy vegetables with great interest. After careful selection, she came to a vegetable stall.
The stall owner was wearing a straw hat, his eyes flashed, and he was a little nervous about Ye Lanying's bargaining. But the astute Ye Lanying still noticed something unusual, this vegetable farmer spoke a Henan accent, and his appearance also made her feel familiar.
A palpitating memory suddenly emerged, making Ye Lanying firmly believe that the vegetable farmer in front of her was the murderer who committed a heinous crime many years ago. After a polite conversation with the vegetable farmer, Ye Lanying immediately rushed to the public security bureau to report the case, and finally the court sentenced the vegetable farmer to death.
So, who is this man? And what crimes have they committed? One of the executioners in the Dregs Cave, nicknamed "The Owl", is a chilling name in the Dregs Cave in Chongqing's Shapingba District.
The slag cave was originally a small coal kiln, named because there was more slag and less coal. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, only one side faces a ditch, and the location is very hidden. The Kuomintang reactionaries used it to set up prisons where many communists and revolutionaries were imprisoned.
Stepping into the hospital, a heavy sense of pressure came to my face. The building of the dregs cave is simple, with 18 rooms in the inner courtyard, of which 16 are men's prisons and 2 are women's prisons. On the wall of the inner courtyard, there are still slogans such as "Youth is no more, think deeply", "Recognize the here and now, don't be confused" and other slogans, which are very depressing.
The venting dam outside each cell is a temporary freedom for the prisoners. In the outer courtyard, there are offices, interrogation rooms, etc., and signs are hung on the walls to warn the guards and interrogators: "What the chief can't see, think, hear, or do, we must see, think, hear, and do for the chief." ”
The oppressive atmosphere of the Dregs Cave, as well as the horrors of the past, make people shudder.
On the eve of the liberation of Chongqing, the Kuomintang reactionaries carried out a tragic campaign here, and more than 200 revolutionary aspirants were subjected here. The guns of the People's Liberation Army rang out, and the Kuomintang reactionaries panicked and decided to carry out the "prisoners" in the scum hole.
They are 2 miles away from the scum holeThe 5-kilometer White Mansion and the Dregs Cave were united, and some of the "prisoners" were taken to the hillside to be killed, while the other part was concentrated in several cells and machine-gunned.
Eventually, the demons poured gasoline on the outside of the cell, burning the cell and the "prisoners" in one fell swoop. And this tragedy was seen by a woman named Ye Lanying.
Ye Lanying lives near the scum cave, ** On the day of the incident, she first heard a few gunshots, and then saw a raging fire coming out of the direction of the scum cave. She immediately realized that the situation was not good, and hurriedly summoned the villagers to put out the fire, but when she arrived at the scene, she found that in addition to the skyrocketing fire, the Kuomintang reactionary executioner Xu Guilin had long since disappeared.
The villagers looked at the raging fire with grief and a heavy heart, because the imprisoned revolutionaries could face the test of life and death. Sure enough, after the fire was extinguished, the villagers found the remains of those who had died heroically in the ashes.
This made the villagers hateful, and they regretted not catching Xu Guilin. Xu Guilin was born in 1919 and joined the Kuomintang Cadet Corps in 1939. As a result of learning a good martial arts from an early age, he soon joined the First Police Corps of the Ministry of the Interior and joined the Kuomintang's secret service, the Wanglongmen Special Service.
Xu Guilin is famous in the team with his martial arts and is known as one of the "Four King Kongs". However, his martial arts did not make him a hero against violence, and during his training at the secret service, he became irritable and savage, and his teammates were reluctant to associate with him.
However, his personality was deeply liked by Dai Li, who used him very much and transferred him to the patrol team as a squad leader.
Dai Li's protection made Xu Guilin extremely respected in the army, which made him even more arrogant and even more cruel. In 1945, Xu Guilin was transferred to the Bao Mansion as a caretaker and participated in the killing of revolutionary martyrs such as Luo Shiwen and Che Yaoxian.
After killing revolutionary aspirants many times, Xu Guilin gradually lost his basic humanity, and his methods were extremely vicious and showed no mercy to revolutionary aspirants, so he was honored as "owl" in prison.
According to statistics, Xu Guilin killed as many as 180 revolutionaries in the scum cave, and he was an out-and-out big demon. However, this demon disappeared without a trace overnight, which cast a shadow over everyone's hearts.
When the PLA arrived at the scum cave, the villagers truthfully reported what had happened. The People's Liberation Army immediately sent people to look for Xu Guilin's traces, but after some searching, nothing was found.
Investigators speculated whether Mr. Xu had gone to Taiwan with Chiang Kai-shek. But Xu Guilin was just a small soldier and could not be taken on the plane. Investigators have searched for him in the list of KMT flights to Taiwan, but have not found any trace of him, speculating that he may have been among the people.
He may think he is well hidden, but he never expects to be identified by a rural woman. A suspect who had committed a heinous crime in Dregs Cave disappeared after the liberation of Chongqing, and the People's Liberation Army conducted an extensive search, but no trace of him was found.
Xu Guilin cleverly hid in the crowd and posed a threat to the people. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) found it difficult to find his whereabouts, and Xu Guilin realized that if he was caught, the consequences would be unimaginable, so he fled in all directions, like a wild dog that had lost his home.
He boarded the vehicle of the Second Division of the Chief Executive's Office of Xin'an and drove towards Guang'an. Yang Yuanqin, deputy director of the Second Division, organized the spies to form the 41 Unit, planning to go to Huaying Mountain to conduct guerrilla warfare, in a vain attempt to defeat the PLA.
However, what they didn't expect was that Huaying Mountain was conquered by the People's Liberation Army before they arrived. They learned the news of the failure of Huaying Mountain halfway, and instantly felt that the end was coming, and gave up the idea of going to Huaying Mountain, and could only find a new way out.
At this time, Hu Zongnan's 80th Division of the 76th Army happened to be in Santai County, which was the closest to them, so they decided to go to the 80th Division. However, the 80th Division could not withstand the attack of the People's Liberation Army and finally surrendered.
Xu Guilin and the spies were taken prisoner, but they were very cooperative. At that time, the liberation of the whole country was about to be achieved, and the PLA also granted leniency to prisoners.
They can choose to stay and follow the PLA; You can also choose to go home and receive compensation. Both options are pretty good. However, no one expected that the big devil of the scum cave was among this group of captives.
After Xu Guilin and other high-ranking spies were educated, they were released and received money. It was just a little bit before Xu Guilin and the others would be executed immediately, but the situation at that time did not give enough time and conditions to verify the identities of the prisoners one by one.
In the first battle between the People's Liberation Army and Xu Guilin, he successfully escaped. Since then, Xu Guilin has disappeared without a trace again, what did he go to? Investigators found that Xu Guilin was from Anyang, Henan, so they immediately went north to Anyang, and inquired all the way to Xu Guilin's hometown, but the family said that Xu Guilin had never returned since he joined the army.
The people in his hometown probably also know something about what Xu Guilin did, so it is impossible for them to harbor criminals. All of a sudden, the clue to hunt down Xu Guilin was interrupted again, and there was no ** for him at that time, otherwise he would not have escaped from the captivity.
Ye Lanying accidentally discovered a strange thing in the market fair, when she was choosing ingredients, she found that although the vegetables from a hawker were fresh, they were much higher than other places.
She bargained with the vendor, but the vendor insisted on not dropping. Ye Lanying noticed that the hawker's accent was not native to Chongqing, so she struck up a conversation with the hawker to try to learn more about the mysterious hawker.
In this process, Ye Lanying's appearance broke the deadlock of investigators and provided new clues for the next investigation.
The vendor always covered his face with a big straw hat on his head, which made Ye Lanying feel a little strange. She felt as if the vendor was running away from the gaze of others. The more the hawker covered up, the stronger Ye Lanying's curiosity became.
After a few hagglings, the vendor finally agreed to go cheaper. While the hawker was weighing, Ye Lanying secretly glanced at the hawker's face, this look, Ye Lanying's heart beat faster, and she felt that the hawker's face seemed to have been seen in **.
Thinking about it carefully, with this face and a Henan accent, Ye Lanying suddenly remembered a painful memory. This peddler is Xu Guilin, who used to be the caretaker of the scum cave and is known for his ruthless methods.
Ye Lanying's heart was beating faster and faster, and she was afraid that Xu Guilin would find out about her abnormality. She took the vegetables from Xu Guilin's hand, and then made an excuse that she didn't have enough money and needed to go home to pick them up.
Then, she called two friends to spy on Xu Guilin, and she immediately ran to the public security bureau to call the police.
Ye Lanying rushed to the Public Security Bureau and shouted: "Come on, I found Xu Guilin, don't let him run!" The police arrived quickly and asked for details. When they learned that this person was Xu Guilin, the police's reaction was very puzzling, and they did not take immediate action.
It turned out that by comparing Ye Lanying's reflection with the information of the Public Security Bureau, they found that the vegetable vendor was very likely to be Xu Guilin. However, Xu Guilin's sudden appearance made the Public Security Bureau dare not act rashly.
They appeased Ye Lanying, promised to send someone to spy on Xu Guilin, and hoped that she would not startle the snake for the time being. Although Ye Lanying didn't know the intentions of the Public Security Bureau, she still cooperated to let the little sisters leave the vegetable stall.
A few days later, the rally began again, and Ye Lanying found that the great demon Xu Guilin was still selling vegetables, and couldn't help but wonder about the Public Security Bureau's approach. She was an anxious person, and she was afraid that Xu Guilin would run away if she was not careful, so she came to the Public Security Bureau again to inquire about the situation.
After ensuring that Ye Lanying was reassured, ** immediately launched an operation and sent personnel to No. 57 of Danzi Shihui 2nd Village to investigate. It is understood that Xu Guilin's father-in-law is called Wang Degong.
Despite their apprehensions, they realized they couldn't act rashly. Xu Guilin may be using the excuse of selling vegetables to test or look for opportunities to create chaos.
At the same time, it is impossible to determine whether he has ** and fellow party in his hands. Therefore, it was decided to conduct a full investigation before taking action. After a few days of observation, it was found that Xu Guilin was always alone, often wearing a straw hat to cover his face, going out every five days, and neighbors rarely saw him.
Based on this, ** judged that he may have lost contact with the spy and became a "lone wolf" hiding everywhere.
In order to prevent Xu Guilin from making an escape tunnel at home, the public security organs decided to carry out a surprise arrest at the next rally. To this end, they intensified the search and arrest, and sent plainclothes police to ambush him in all directions of his vegetable stall.
There was also a police officer who pretended to be an ordinary citizen, disguised as a grocery shopping customer to talk to Xu Guilin. On the same day, Xu Guilin came to the market as usual. At this time, he didn't realize that the person who usually sold vegetables at the stall had been replaced by a stranger.
A pair of eyes, intentional or unintentional, were observing his movements. At this time, a sturdy young man appeared in front of the vegetable stall, pointed to the eggs in the basket and asked, "Boss, how do you sell these eggs?" ”
Xu Guilin didn't dare to speak more, and stretched out his finger to compare a number. The young man didn't seem satisfied, and continued: "Boss, your eggs are too expensive, and the one I just went to is not so expensive.
How do you sell this cabbage? Xu Guilin didn't realize that when he was bargaining with the young man, the ordinary citizens around him had quietly left. When the opportunity came, the public security officers immediately gave a signal, and the young man dressed as a grocery buyer immediately put away his smile and threw himself at Xu Guilin.
Xu Guilin has practiced martial arts in Shaolin for many years, and his skills are as agile as a swallow. However, when he tried to dodge the crowd's attacks, he found himself trapped in an encirclement, unable to escape no matter how much he struggled.
The policemen acted quickly, pressing their heads and legs, and handcuffing them, and firmly pressed Xu Guilin to the ground, making him unable to move. Xu Guilin shouted in pain: "Who are you?
Why arrest me? I'm just a vegetable farmer and I haven't committed any crimes! However, the police officer wearing ** was unmoved, and said to Xu Guilin coldly: "Xu Guilin, I don't need to tell you all about the crimes you committed." ”
Xu Guilin was stunned when he heard this, but he quickly concealed his weakness and pretended not to know this person. However, the public security organs, considering the safety of the public, did not listen to Xu Guilin's quibbles and took him to the police station.
During the interrogation, Xu Guilin resolutely denied that he was an "owl", and tried to get away with it by denying it, because almost all the revolutionary aspirants who saw him at that time were ** by him, and those spies had long disappeared without a trace.
He even claimed to have identification. In response, the public security organs immediately searched his home and found a national ID card numbered 3407 with the words "Xu Tiande" written on it.
Xu Guilin seems to have premeditated and waited for this day to come. However, ** is not worried that he will deny the crime, because they have already found the survivors of the scum cave back then.
These survivors still remember Xu Guilin's face vividly, even if he was carefully dressed, he couldn't hide it. When these survivors walked in front of Xu Guilin, their emotions collapsed instantly, and they grabbed Xu Guilin's collar and asked, "The surname is Xu, do you remember us?" ”
Although Xu Guilin has killed countless people, he has long forgotten the face he hurt. However, what the survivors said next made Xu Guilin have to admit his crime.
That day you locked us up in a cell and set us on fire. The 32 of us pushed the door open and were about to escape over the wall, when you pulled out your pistol and killed 17 of us.
You are still fighting and saying, 'Look which of you is still a communist.'" Do you remember? The survivor's voice was hoarse. The memory of that day immediately came to Xu Guilin's mind, and he looked at the angry eyes of the survivors in the room and the clenched fists of the police, and finally understood that the crimes he had committed would eventually be judged by the people.
Xu Guilin couldn't argue anymore and hung his head in despair.
At the public trial meeting on May 16, 1950, Zhang Linzhi, deputy secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, wrote "In the name of the heroic soul, I request approval of the execution," and the court signed the report of the Ministry of Public Security.
The executive then took the crime-ridden spy Xu Guilin to a wasteland, and with a gunshot, justice finally triumphed.
