During the second renovation, I stuck to my principles, rejected some suggestions from the designer, and ended up with a home that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Here are 9 renovation decisions that I am thankful to have made that have not only improved my living experience, but also saved me a lot of detours in the renovation process.
1.Stick to the minimalist style:
I rejected the designer's recommendation for intricate ceilings and intricate wall decorations, opting for a minimalist style. This not only saves renovation costs, but also makes the home look more spacious and bright. The minimalist style is easy to care for and more in line with the modern pace of life.
2.Choose durable materials:
When it comes to material selection, I stick to materials that are durable and easy to clean. For example, I chose tiles with good waterproofing properties and hard-wearing floors, which are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also stand the test of time.
3.Reasonable planning of space:
Instead of blindly pursuing an open kitchen, I planned the space of the kitchen and dining room reasonably according to the living habits of my family members. This layout not only ensures the convenience of cooking, but also avoids the influence of oil fumes on other areas.
4.Furniture with a focus on practicality:
I avoided buying furniture that looked flashy but wasn't functional. I chose furniture that is versatile and organized, such as storage under the bed, a foldable dining table, etc., that make the home more tidy and organized.
5.Smart Home:
I have invested in some smart home devices like smart lights, automatic curtains, etc. These devices not only improve the convenience of life, but also increase the sense of technology at home.
6.Eco-friendly decoration:
I insist on using environmentally friendly materials to reduce decoration pollution. When choosing products such as paints and adhesives, I pay special attention to their environmental standards to ensure the health of my family.
7.Personalized design:
I didn't rely entirely on the designer's proposal, but participated in the design based on my own preferences and needs. For example, I hand-picked the colors of the walls to give my home more personality.
8.Flexible layout:
I avoided a fixed furniture layout and opted for furniture that could be flexibly adjusted. In this way, the space of the home can be easily adjusted as family members change and living needs grow.
9.Plenty of storage space:
I realise the importance of storage space, so I designed it with storage needs in mind. I took advantage of the wall space and designed built-in cabinets that saved space and provided plenty of storage space.
In this renovation, I have learned a lot and understood my needs better. I'm glad I stuck with these decisions, and they made my home more comfortable and livable. Decoration is not only a technical job, but also a deep understanding and personalized expression of home. I hope that these experiences of mine can provide some reference for friends who are about to renovate.
