In August 1966, Tao Zhu was elected as a member of the Politburo Standing Committee and became a state-level cadre. However, what is unexpected is that he felt very worried, and specially wrote to *** saying that he felt deeply guilty, what is the reason for this?
Tao Zhu was born in 1908 in Qiyang County, Hunan Province, and moved to Wuhan with his family when he was 6 years old, where he studied at a private school in Wuchang. However, in the second year, his father had to return to his hometown in Qiyang to live because of the failure of his industrial plan, and entered Wenchangge Primary School as the principal, and Tao Zhu also followed his father to study.
In 1918, Tao Zhu's father was killed, and in order to live, he had to leave school to make a living. Although he lived in poverty, he never put down the books in his hand, he firmly believed that only knowledge can truly change fate, and it is precisely because he never gave up learning that he was able to get in touch with progressive ideas and determine his goals.
In 1925, he came to Guangzhou and threw himself into the vigorous revolutionary movement. In the second year, he was successfully admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy, where he carried out systematic militarized study and training, laying the foundation for his later revolutionary fighting career.
After deeply understanding the purpose of the Communist Party, he believed that only the Communist Party of China could truly change the status quo in China, so during his time at the Whampoa Military Academy, he decisively joined the Communist Party and fought for it all his life.
In May 1933, Tao Zhu carried out revolutionary work in Shanghai, but was betrayed by traitors and was arrested and imprisoned by the Kuomintang for four years. However, in the past four years, his fighting spirit has never been defeated by the enemy, for him, this is just a change of place to fight, but this place of battle is relatively limited.
He tried his best to connect the party members in prison, and together they encouraged each other, while fighting the enemy, and constantly improving their knowledge in all aspects. For this reason, he once joked that he was a "prison college graduate".
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, with the active rescue of the party organization, Tao Zhu was successfully released from prison and once again devoted himself to the anti-Japanese battle, making great contributions to the revolution.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively held important posts in the Central South Military Region, Guangxi Province, and Guangdong Province, and all of them brilliantly fulfilled the tasks required by the People's Republic of China and made significant contributions to local development.
In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Guangxi was seriously plagued by bandits, and Tao Zhu was ordered to solve the problem of bandits in Guangxi. During his tenure as secretary of the Guangxi Provincial Party Committee, he vigorously rectified military affairs, strengthened training, and adopted tough measures to quickly suppress local bandits. Under his drastic military action, Guangxi has achieved very excellent results in suppressing bandits, and he has also been greatly praised by the first party.
After that, he was sent to Guangdong to preside over the work. Under his leadership, Guangdong's economy has developed to a certain extent.
In his work, he has always maintained the principle of proceeding from reality and opposed all empty talk and exaggeration. At that time, there was a wind of exaggeration, and good news of grain production in various localities was frequently reported, but at the end of the year, the requisition of grain from various localities did not meet the requirements, and even the basic livelihood of the local people was greatly affected, and the same was true in Guangdong.
Regarding this kind of behavior, Tao Zhu directly pointed out at a mass meeting: "We should live a realistic life. ”
In order to truly not detach himself from the masses and proceed from reality in everything, he would spend three or four months every year going deep into factories, schools, and even mountainous areas and islands to personally conduct investigations, find out problems, sum up experience, and guide work.
In August 1966, at the suggestion of ***, Tao Zhu was successfully elected as a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, and only ranked after ***, becoming the fourth person in the CCP at that time.
After the appointment, Tao Zhu looked very uneasy. For this reason, he also specially wrote a letter to ***, saying that he was "deeply guilty". Because he felt that he had a lot to do with other comrades, he was actually under pressure for this appointment. He thinks he shouldn't be too high in line, he should be behind ***.
After reading the letter and understanding his thoughts, he still thought he was worthy of the appointment, so he wrote back that ** had been decided, and he would not change, so he would not refrain from resigning.
The guilt in Tao Zhu's heart is actually out of modesty, his ability is actually worthy of the trust of ** in him, and he is also worthy of the praise of his comrades!
