Before the soldier died, he asked ** for a hug, ** bowed his head and kissed him, leaving the famous "Dead Kiss" photo

On the occasion of the war, in July 1986, Wang Hong, the photography officer of Songmaoling, the main peak of Laoshan Mountain, pressed the shutter button several times on the battlefield filled with gunsmoke with his camera. However, the battlefield **, which was named "Dead Kiss", is the only picture that people will never forget.

This ** depicts the thrilling moment of two soldiers on the battlefield before death, leaning over each other, surpassing all secular etiquette and leaving a deep and shocking impression.

"Dead Kiss" at war

Back in the early morning of April 28, 1984, two signal flares burst into the sky, waking up the people who had been sleeping in Lao Son for five years under the Vietnamese occupation. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) fired hundreds of thousands of artillery shells like torrential rain at Laoshan and Zheyin Mountain, directly leaving a large number of Vietnamese troops to sleep forever in the flames of war.

In order to recover these two mountains, our army spent a full 26 days to make full preparations. After the start of the battle, our army launched an offensive with majestic momentum, and after 18 days of fighting, the task of recovery was successfully completed. However, the Vietnamese army did not stop there, and then continued to counterattack, among which the "7.12" battle of Songmaoling was the most grandiose.

On July 12, when the fighting intensified, the Vietnamese army moved 180,000 troops, divided into four routes, launched a fierce attack on the Songmaoling position. Our army had long expected that the Vietnamese army would launch a fierce attack, and the 12 artillery companies and 4 tank companies that were in place urgently needed actual combat experience. China has always been a country that pays attention to etiquette, and the Vietnamese army sent the "great gift" of artillery shells, and our army was naturally not to be outdone. As soon as the first shell of the Vietnamese army was fired, our troops urgently prepared to launch a counterattack.

In just a few hours, our army directly consumed tens of thousands of spare artillery shells, and urgently transferred hundreds of trucks to load ammunition in case the Vietnamese army continued to attack.

This battle was different from the past, not only was the artillery fire fierce and intensive, but also because of the assistance of the artillery position detection radar introduced by our army, the artillery bombardment of our army was as if it were accurately located.

In the end, the battle ended in a crushing defeat for the Vietnamese army, so that they no longer dared to easily engage in an artillery battle with the squadron. On the contrary, our army won a great victory, morale was high, and a short time to recuperate.

However, war has meant sacrifice and blood since ancient times. Zhao Weijun, the prototype in the battlefield of "Dead Kiss", failed to witness the real end of the Sino-Vietnamese War.

In July 1986, the 47th Army of the Lanzhou Military Region was ordered by its superiors to hold the Laoshan front line for more than two months. The 421st Regiment of the 141st Division of the 47th Army, to which Zhao Weijun belonged, had been holding on to the Songmaoling position on the main peak, although they did not flinch in the face of intensive artillery fire from the Vietnamese army.

However, at this moment, in addition to the threat of artillery fire on the position, every step of the movement was fraught with potential danger. Because in order to prevent our army from regaining its position, the Vietnamese army laid an extensive minefield on the main peak position, making it difficult for our army to predict when it will happen**.

On a certain day, the Vietnamese army, under the cover of a large amount of artillery fire, launched another ** on the high ground. Suddenly, a bomb landed in a clearing near the young soldier Zhao Weijun. If it was just a shell**, if Zhao Weijun could have dodged it in time, the danger could have been reduced to a minimum. But unfortunately, the bomb fell in the minefield, and after the end of the successive **, Zhao Weijun was hit by shrapnel in many places, the most serious of which was the leg, blood kept gushing out, and soon he fell into a coma.

Against all odds, his comrades-in-arms rushed to Zhao Weijun's side in time and helped him to a simple medical point, a temporary hospital composed of only a few simple tents. The doctor understands how much the fighters value one of their legs, but in order to save Zhao Weijun's life, they can only make a painful choice.

Despite the success of the amputation, Zhao Weijun was out of danger. However, a few days later, the amputation wound began to become seriously infected, and a large area of ** suppurated. Although doctors have increased the dose of anti-inflammatory drugs, the situation has not improved. In the end, the medical staff had no choice but to help Zhao Weijun to go to the hospital further behind.

Zhao Weijun had a high fever before leaving, and even fell into a coma for a while. As the metastasis progressed, his condition deteriorated dramatically. **Zhang Ru has been taking care of this comrade-in-arms with all her might, and she is anxious, hoping to send Zhao Weijun to the rear to accept a better ** as soon as possible. Even though she tried to be optimistic, her professional training made her understand that death was gradually approaching Zhao Weijun.

On July 24, Zhao Weijun miraculously became sober and conscious during the transfer. Although he was still weak, at least he was able to communicate with the medical staff.

During a break during a transfer, Zhang Ru habitually looked at Zhao Weijun lying on a stretcher, and she leaned in to listen to his words. However, Zhao Weijun's words made her feel mixed in her heart.

Zhao Weijun, a young and enthusiastic native of Yuzhong County, was born in 1965. He was only 21 years old at the time, in the prime of his youth. For the love and sense of responsibility for the motherland in his heart, he chose to join the army at the age of 20 with enthusiasm, with the determination to serve the country.

In late April 1986, Zhao Weijun's unit received an order to participate in the counterattack against Vietnam and participate in the Laoshan Wheel Battle. At that time, 30,000 officers and soldiers of the 47th Army of the Lanzhou Army, where he belonged, gathered in the military region and went to Wenshan Prefecture for pre-war training to prepare for the upcoming battle.

After holding on to the battlefield for more than two months, Zhao Weijun's 421st Regiment experienced nearly 100 artillery attacks by the Vietnamese army, and the ammunition consumption was extremely high, according to statistics, at least 10,000 rounds of ammunition were fired. In spite of this, the Vietnamese army could not shake the determination and will of our officers and men to hold their positions to the death.

However, at the age of 21, Zhao Weijun was unable to witness the final victory with his own eyes. In the last days of his life, the story between him and a ** sister Zhang Ru who has been taking care of him has been widely praised among future generations.

When Zhang Ru cautiously turned Zhao Weijun's head in the direction of Gansu, his softly spoken words were like knives, piercing deep into her heart: "Mom and Dad, maybe I won't be able to come back, and I won't be able to do my filial piety to you." I have given my loyalty to my country without complaint or remorse. Please don't be too sad......”

Zhang Ru, a medical worker, deeply understands that Zhao Weijun has realized that he has little left in his life, and is saying goodbye to his hometown and family and expressing his apologies. Zhao Weijun tried to open his eyes and stared at Zhang Ru intently, his mouth opening and closing, but he never said a word.

Zhang Ru leaned close to Zhao Weijun's mouth so that he could say whatever he wanted. She assured him that she would do everything she could to help. Although Zhang Ru's tone was firm, Zhao Weijun still hesitated, and finally spoke after a while

Sister, I may be at the end of my life. I have no regrets, but one regret. It is said that a person's life is incomplete if they have not experienced love. I'm 21 years old, but I still don't understand the true meaning of love. Can I hug you once? ”

Zhao Weijun's voice was faint, but every word was clearly legible. As soon as he finished speaking, she hugged him without hesitation. After the hug ended, she kissed him on the forehead and the corners of his mouth. When this kiss that transcended friendship landed gently, Zhao Weijun smiled and closed his eyes, and his life was forever stuck at the young age of 21.

As a medical worker, she has experienced many moments when soldiers close their eyes in their arms, but this time is particularly special for Zhang Ru, the young comrade-in-arms who has never been in love, frequently appears in her dreams.

After Zhao Weijun's death, Zhang Ru returned to the front-line hospital, still busy with work, and would share Zhao Weijun's story with other comrades-in-arms in his spare time. Soon after, a photojournalist Wang Hong came to the Laoshan War Zone for an interview and heard about this story by chance, and he wanted to show this touching scene to more people.

With Zhang Ru's consent, their story was recorded in interview notes describing the special "kiss" she left behind in the final stages of his life. This **, known as "Dead Kiss", has attracted wide attention in major domestic newspapers and periodicals, touching people's deep feelings, respect and regrets.

However, as the heat subsided, this ** also caused a lot of controversy. Because it was actually reshot and post-adjusted, some people questioned its authenticity in order to present a deeper emotional effect. Even though "Dead Kiss"** was selected for the national exhibition, it was not exhibited because it was considered to meet the requirements of authentic records.

In response to this matter, photographer Wang Hong explained: The original choice of reshoot was to record the real story on the battlefield and convey the kindness of human nature in the face of life and death. This is the expectation of beauty and warmth. Despite the controversy at the time, there is no doubt that the story behind it is moving and the emotional value conveyed is immeasurable.

In 2011, Zhang Ru was over half a hundred years old, and she no longer had a youthful appearance, but she always remembered the comrades-in-arms who died on the old mountain. Therefore, she and her comrades-in-arms jointly launched a "mission journey", which lasted 5 years and spanned 32 counties and cities in 9 provinces, just to fulfill the promise made in the face of life and death in her youth.

On Labor Day in 2015, Zhang Ru came to the Martyrs' Cemetery in Yuzhong County, Gansu Province, where she stayed in front of Zhao Weijun's grave for a long time, poured out many words, shed many tears, and ......

Youth may be gone, but the vows you made at the beginning are still remembered. And the oaths made by the soldiers are all to protect the family and defend the country. Salute to the Chinese people, we will defend the prosperous China that was exchanged for blood and life like you in our young years!
