Go out from the duty room, climb 39 steps, and you will arrive at the Buddha Peak Meteorological Observation Field. During her shift, Wu Lei had to walk back and forth at least three times a day on this road, and she had to come several more times to catch up with the rain, snow and wind. In order to ensure the normal operation of the instrument and the accuracy of the data, Wu Lei had to carefully check all kinds of equipment and complete it within the specified time, whether it was windy, rainy, snowy and hail, he had to go out.
Foyeding Meteorological Station is located in the high mountains in the north of Yanqing, and belongs to the national basic meteorological observation station, with an altitude of 1224At 7 meters, it is the highest manned meteorological station in Beijing, and it belongs to the three types of difficult stations. Wind direction, wind speed, air temperature, humidity, snow, rainfall, visibility, ......In this 256-square-meter observation field, there are more than 10 kinds of meteorological elements monitored.
The climate is very cold, with a minimum temperature of less than -30 in winter and an average of 110 windy days per year. "The altitude here is similar to the altitude of 850 hPa, which can be used as an indicator station for meteorological forecasting, and the observation data here can provide comparative testing and correction for model forecast results, which is an important reference for meteorological forecasting and early warning. Whenever there is cold air to the south, Buddha Peak has become the "outpost" of Beijing's meteorological forecast and early warning observation, the wind comes, the snow comes, Wu Lei becomes the first person to monitor.
Before coming to Foyeding, Wu Lei worked in lightning protection for two years, but he majored in advertising design, which can be said to have nothing to do with meteorology. In 2016, the Buddha Peak Weather Station needed manpower, and Wu Lei, who was born in 1990, took the initiative to accept the job, and since then she has started the work of one-person monitoring and reporting.
There are only two observers at the Buddha Peak Weather Station, one of which is Han Wenxing, who has been on the job for 31 years, and the young man who is his partner is replaced every few years, and Wu Lei is already the 15th person. The first 14 people either resigned or applied for transfer.
Wu Lei said that when he first came to the Buddha's top, he still felt very fresh, and he was very excited to do his work, but after all, he was not a meteorological major, in addition to participating in the business training of the unit, he read books and learned a lot of knowledge after work, and quickly asked Han Wenxing for advice when he encountered problems, "Master Han is my guide." ”
Within a few months, Wu Lei deeply felt the "unusual" work of the Buddha, he could only deal with meteorological data and equipment every day, and there was no one to talk to, he was alone in his work and life, and he had to cook by himself, "Before 2018, there was no network, except for doing a good job in the station, there was nothing else to do, to be honest, it was boring." Wu Lei said that in addition to reading business books, he occasionally talked to his family, and now looking back, I don't know how he survived those two years.
There were a few moments when Wu Lei also thought about giving up, but every time he had this thought, he would think of Master Han. "Master Han has suffered a lot more than me, thinking that he has persevered for so many years, what can I not do? Wu Lei said that Han Wenxing is his spiritual pillar at the top of the Buddha.
Wu Lei and Han Wenxing have worked together for more than 7 years, but the time for the two to contact is actually not much, every time they meet, they are friends, one goes up the mountain and the other goes down, at most a few words, and then explain the work. But Wu Lei has heard the story of Han Wenxing.
Before 2007, there was no way up the mountain, so Master Han rode a bicycle from his home to the bottom of the mountain, put the car at the villagers' houses, and then climbed up the mountain by himself with food on his back, and it took hours to go up; Before 2003, the duty room was two brick houses, which were ventilated when the wind blew; There was no water either, and the water could only be stored in a few large tanks, and various bugs and ...... were often floating on the surface of the waterWu Lei said that Han Wenxing's story has constantly given him encouragement and support.
Starting from December 10, 2023, there has been a region-wide heavy rainfall and cold wave weather process in Yanqing District, and Wu Lei was supposed to go up the mountain to change shifts on the 11th, but considering that the snow mountain road was closed again, Han Wenxing had to stay for at least 10 more days, so he had to be on the mountain for more than half a month, so he took the initiative to apply to go up the mountain to change shifts one day earlier.
The snowflakes arrived on time on the 10th, and the snow fell and cooled down for a while, and 20 national meteorological observation stations in Beijing, including the Buddha Peak, started encrypted observation, which means that within a specific time, Wu Lei will carry out artificial encrypted observation of weather phenomena, snow depth, precipitation and other elements by 1 hour and 3 hours by 3 hours.
At the same time, Wu Lei should always pay attention to the operation of the meteorological equipment in the observation field, and clean up the snow falling on the instrument in time to ensure the normal transmission of observation data. After the observation is completed, he will upload the data to the ground observation business platform, and communicate with the district meteorological station attendant about the snowfall and snow depth data on the top of the mountain.
From the 10th to the 11th, the 13th to the 15th, in the process of encrypted observation, the most test for Wu Lei was sleepiness, especially in the next three days, he had to observe and record every hour, he didn't dare to sleep at all, "I was worried about things, and I couldn't sleep well, and I was afraid that if I was too sleepy and asleep, I couldn't wake up when the alarm clock rang." So, he barely closed his eyes for three days.
I still remember that he encountered heavy snow in the first year of work, and the food stored in that meeting was not enough to support the last few days, Wu Lei changed the rice to thin porridge in order to save food, and the water was not enough, so he drank some snow water when he was thirsty, so he carried it hard, and when the mountain road was opened after the snow, he was able to change shifts and go down the mountain.
In this lonely position, Wu Lei has worked for more than 7 years, and he has spent half of the 7 years alone at the top of the Buddha. Wu Lei's parents said that they used to think that the child was very frizzy and couldn't do anything, but they didn't expect that in the past seven years in the Buddha's top, they felt that their son had become calmer.
This shift change coincided with Chinese New Year's Eve, Wu Lei brought the fennel meat filling and dough prepared by his parents from home, he planned to wrap some dumplings, and then use the meat and squid prepared by the unit to stir-fry a dish, and the Chinese New Year's Eve dinner was alive, "Although one person celebrates the New Year, there must still be a sense of ceremony."
