HOT ENGINE PROGRAM Bugatti announced on Thursday that its new supercar, which will replace the Chiron, will debut in June with a V-16 engine reinforced with a hybrid powertrain.
A leaked ** reveals that the air intake cover is made of carbon fibre and has a top design reminiscent of the construction of classic V-8 and V-12 engines, including those used in the Bugatti EB110. Although Bugatti maintains the configuration of the mid-engine, more details have not yet been revealed. The new sports car is likely to feature a custom-made carbon fibre monocoque body, like the Chiron and its predecessor, the Veyron.
Mate Rimac, the head of Bugatti's parent company, Bugatti Rimac, said in 2022 that the next Bugatti supercar will be hybrid. This statement is refreshing given that he is the founder of the Rimac Group, a leading company in electric vehicle technology. Rimac also added that Bugatti will focus on craftsmanship, analogue dials and aesthetically pleasing design, distinguishing it from the Rimac brand's electric supercars; RIMAC's supercars, on the other hand, are designed to be as up-to-date as possible and remain at the forefront of modern technology.
Achim Anscheidt was responsible for the styling of the new car. Over the past two decades, he has led the Bugatti design trend. However, after signing a contract for a supercar last year, he opted to resign. Anscheidt had planned to retire early, but was persuaded by Rimac to stay and help with the styling of the new supercar.
