In November, Anhui Province proposed a radically different strategy from the Dazhai Movement for Agriculture: agricultural production teams should have the right to operate and manage independently, assume responsibility for production, and allow team members to retain a certain area of their own land.
At the same time, when there is spare time for labor, they can run a family side hustle. Subsequently, Sichuan Province also made a proposal very similar to that of Anhui Province: farmers should be allowed to keep a small amount of land for their own use and run a proper side business on a family basis.
The actions of Sichuan and Anhui provinces have led other provinces to join the movement to rethink agriculture.
The Dazhai Movement of Agriculture, which was originally planned to be given political colors under a special historical background, gradually fell from the altar with the convening of the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC National Congress and the implementation of the household contract responsibility system.
