Yokohama, February 1 (China Youth Daily, China Youth Network reporter in Japan) On January 31, the "Second Sino-Japanese Youth Calligraphy and Painting Friendship Exchange Exhibition" sponsored by the People's China Magazine and the Japan-China Education International Exchange Association, and undertaken by the People's Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting and Shulu Zhixing International Education, opened in Yokohama, Japan. Wang Lin, Minister Counsellor of the Political Office of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, Wu Wenqin, Director of the Tokyo Branch of the Asia-Pacific Communication Center of CIPG, and Kyoko Shinto of the Yokohama International Bureau attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Wu Wenqin read a written speech by Chen Wenge, director of the Asia-Pacific Communication Center of CIPG. Chen Wenge said: China and Japan are neighbors separated by a strip of water, and peace and friendship have always been the unanimous aspiration of the two peoples. Young people are the hope of the country and the nation, carrying the future of China-Japan relations, and exchanges between young people are the foundation for future exchanges between China and Japan. It is hoped that through this exhibition and the Sino-Japanese youth art exchange visit, the distance between the young people of China and Japan will be narrowed, so that the young people of the two countries can deepen their understanding and friendship through exchanges, and make positive contributions to creating a better tomorrow for the relations between the two countries.
Wang Lin said that in the thousands of years of exchanges between China and Japan, calligraphy and painting are important cultural symbols to promote the friendship between the two countries, and she hopes that through this event, Chinese and Japanese young people can enhance their recognition of East Asian culture and make Chinese and Japanese young people become the best people in cultural exchanges between the two countries. She hoped that the young people of the two countries would continue to carry forward the tradition of calligraphy and painting, carry out more exchanges and cooperation in various forms and contents, and jointly write the beauty of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy and painting art, and write a new chapter in the friendship between the two countries.

Kyoko Shinto said that Yokohama City and Shanghai City are each other's overseas friendship cities. The year 2023 has just passed and marked the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the Treaty of Friendship between the two sides. After half a century of efforts, the two sides have achieved all-round in-depth exchanges in the fields of sports, culture, art, economy, and technology.
Guan Liguo from Yokohama introduced her exhibited works to the reporter of China Youth Daily and China Youth Network, which are calligraphy based on Japanese waka with the theme of welcoming the New Year. Guan Liguo said that she hopes to welcome the arrival of the Year of the Dragon with her own works.
Li Mingze, a student representative from China, said that he had gained a lot from coming to Japan for exchange and study, and was deeply touched to see the art of Chinese calligraphy taking root in Japan. He said that he has strengthened his love for the art of calligraphy, and hopes to contribute to the friendly exchanges between the young people of the two countries and promote exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations with his own practical actions.

In addition to participating in this exchange exhibition, Chinese and Japanese student representatives will also participate in a six-day "China-Japan Youth Art Exchange Visit". They will have in-depth exchanges with Japanese teachers and students at the University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of the Arts, Tokyo National Museum, etc., and listen to art lectures to enhance the friendship between the young people of the two countries.
The China-Japan Youth Calligraphy and Painting Friendship Exchange Program is aimed at young calligraphy and painting enthusiasts aged 6 to 22 in China and Japan, with the theme of "Traditional Culture Stories of China and Japan", "Beautiful Earth, Beautiful Homeland", and "New Era, New Dreams, New Hopes". Nearly 300 excellent works were exhibited in this exchange exhibition, which attracted many local friends of all ages in Yokohama to observe and learn. The exhibition will last until February 4.
