In order to inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture and feel the beauty of the traditional art of juju ball, I joined the practice team of "Youth Gift, Spark Inheritance" of the School of Life Sciences of Qufu Normal University to enhance cultural self-confidence and stimulate the cultural creativity of the whole nation. From February 12th to February 15th, I have been learning the craft of traditional hand-held bow balls in the ** Coastal Community of Jinxiang Street, Jinxiang County, Jining City, Shandong Province, and excavating this long-dormant traditional art.
Temari balls, originally derived from the "Keju" of the Tang Dynasty in China, can be used to throw and play. In the 7th century AD, it spread to Dongying and developed into a veritable art form. Because of its long production process, it has become a gift that brings good luck and symbolizes happiness, and it is also the seasonal phrase for the "New Year". In this way, when the work is formed, it will have a life of its own.
In the process of studying, I gradually fell in love with this art, and I also had some experience. To make a juju ball, you need to be calm, in order to accept such a slow process, it takes a few seconds to write a word at most, you can embroider a complete juju ball, as short as an hour, as long as a day! Hydrangea also seeks harmony to ensure that the silk thread is correct, and if it is wrong, it can only be calmly dismantled and re-embroidered, otherwise, the finished work will be ruined by this failure.
To make a hand ball ball, the first is to wrap the ball, this is the most basic and important step, too loose or too tight is not conducive to the next step, when winding the ball, I choose moxa wool as the ball core, moxa wool has the effect of warming and replenishing yang, dredging the meridians, invigorating blood stasis, dispersing cold and dehumidifying, etc., and it is the most suitable to use in winter. Pack mugwort wool in a non-woven bag, then fill it with cotton to make it a regular ball, and then wrap it into a regular round ball with royal blue embroidery thread, so as to complete a plain ball. In fact, there is a small trick when winding the ball, which is to make the embroidery thread try not to coincide, but the messier the better. The second is the sub-region, measure the circumference of the sphere by measuring it and use the bead needle to determine the north and south poles of the sphere and the equator, and then divide the equator equally, my prime sphere is about 3cm in diameter, here I choose the eighth division. The third part is the embroidery baseline, first use a needle to fix the golden embroidery thread on the plain ball, pay attention to the end of the thread to hide in the ball, so as not to affect the finished effect, and then according to the order of the pole and the equatorial equinox, after the line is fixed, it is made an eighth. Finally, the sphere embroidery, this step can be embroidered according to their own preferences, beginners can also find tutorials on the Internet to learn and observe, the same technique, different color collocation can also produce a colorful effect, such a colorful Temari ball was born! Similarly, we can also use other materials around us to make them into decorations such as bags, brooches, hair bands, etc.
In order to let more people know about this traditional craft, I looked for young students in the community who were also interested in traditional culture, and taught them the skills I learned, which I think is also the inheritance and continuation of culture.
With the rapid development of material culture, new things in people's lives emerge in endlessly, and people's life rhythm is also accelerating. The answer, of course, is no, we can't watch the Temari culture dissipate in the long river of history, we must be like picking up shellfish on the seaside, collecting them again bit by bit, and wiping off the dust on them, so that the Temari culture will become a shining badge of the Chinese nation in the World Nation Square!
