Sanqingshan, a national 5A-level tourist resort, is located at the intersection of Yushan County and Dexing City, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. Its name originates from the three peaks of Yujing, Yuxu and Yuhua, just like the three gods of Taoism Yuqing, Shangqing and Taiqing sit on the top of this mountain. As a famous Taoist mountain, Sanqingshan is not only a world natural heritage site and a global geopark, but also a national natural heritage site and a national geopark.
The main body of Sanqing Mountain is in a north-south direction, with a length of 122 km, 6 km wide from east to west3 kilometers, the overall shape is like a lotus leaf. The mountain is undulating, steep on the east, south and west sides, and slightly gentler on the north. From the foot of the mountain to the summit, the altitude rises dramatically, with a horizontal distance of only 5 kilometers, but the altitude increases sharply from 200 meters to 1,816 meters. There are a variety of granite micro-landforms of different origins densely distributed here, showing the most densely distributed and diverse peak forest landscape among the world's known granite landforms.
Sanqingshan is a paradise for flora and fauna, with 2,373 species of higher plants and 1,728 species of wild animals, making it an important environment for biodiversity in East Asia. At the same time, it has also nurtured a profound Taoist cultural connotation, and the Taoist history of more than 1,600 years has injected rich cultural heritage into Sanqing Mountain. In particular, the ancient buildings of Sanqing Palace, which are laid out according to the eight trigrams, have been praised as "the open-air museum of ancient Chinese Taoist architecture" by the expert group of cultural relics research.
