After a week of investigation, the characteristics and problems of the elderly in all aspects of the use of smart phones have been exposed in the survey results. On January 28, 2024, the practice team members of the "Smart Life, Enjoy Old Age" social practice team held an online meeting under the guidance of teacher Liu Zhaoyu.
A total of 400 questionnaires were sent out and 392 valid questionnaires were returned. The survey was divided into two parts: online and offline, mainly for the elderly in some communities in Shandong and online questionnaires conducted in other areas. The survey questions involve the problems and solutions faced by the elderly in the process of using smart phones, as well as the enthusiasm of the elderly to learn smart phones, the original intention is to understand the pain points of the elderly in the use of smart phones, solve some problems, enrich the spiritual and material life of the elderly, and improve their happiness.
In the later survey data, we can conclude that the pain point of the elderly in using smartphones is that the operation of smartphones is complicated, and the memory of the elderly is declining, and they cannot use the control page of smartphones skillfully. But we feel that it is a pity that most of the elderly do not take the initiative to ask for help when they encounter difficulties, but have an attitude of getting by, and even their enthusiasm for learning smartphones is not very high, because they think that it is "unnecessary" and "a waste of time".
In response to the above problems, our next work will focus on the following points.
First of all, for each elderly person to understand their needs, each elderly person's expectations and needs for smartphones may be different, some people just want to use their mobile phones to make ** and text messages, while some people also want to be able to learn to use social ** apps, browse the internet, shop and other features. By communicating with the elderly. We can better understand their needs so that we can provide better and more targeted assistance.
Secondly, simplifying the setup process of your smartphone is key. Smartphone setup can be a confusing task for seniors. If we advocate that mobile phone manufacturers simplify the setup process and adjust the page more intuitive and easy to use, then it will be easier for the elderly to get started.
Finally, we will also use the practice team to visit, practice team members door-to-door service, teach the elderly the basic functions of smart phones, including but not limited to sending text messages, taking photos, using contacts and other basic functions, in the process of teaching, we need to patiently, clearly explain each step, and encourage the elderly to do it themselves. Practice and review repeatedly to reinforce what you have learned.
All in all, the problem of difficulty in using machines for the elderly is imminent. We need more patience and care. Provide targeted education and support to enable more older people to master smartphones and enjoy the convenience they bring, thereby improving the well-being and sense of achievement of older people.
