As the application season gradually comes to an end, more and more international students have received offers from their dream schools and happily come to share their joy with Little Haima, where Little Haima sincerely says "Congratulations" to everyoneCongratulations to all of you for achieving your dream of studying abroad through your own efforts.
However, in addition to the excitement, many students made a difficulty: it is the first time for them to study abroad, how to prepare to ensure that the study abroad journey is foolproof?
Don't worry, in this issue, Little Seahorse will lead you to take a look at the 10 major things that international students must do after receiving the offer, hurry up and collect them and do them gradually, otherwise you will not learn what you will learn!
01. Check the offer information
After receiving the admission letter, international students should immediately check the personal information and professional information on it.
Personal information includes, but is not limited to: name (especially in pinyin), gender, date of birth, address, etc.;
Professional information includes, but is not limited to: the name of the institution, major, duration, degree, campus, teaching mode, etc.
Don't think that the error rate of this information is too low and you will not check it, as long as there is a single mistake, you may be detained at customs, or even persuaded to quit because you cannot report as scheduled.
There are also international students who apply for interdisciplinary disciplines, and they must find out whether they are applying for a degree such as MA, MSC or MFA.
If the above information is incorrect, please contact the school as soon as possible to correct it!
02. Confirm the offer type
There are generally two types of offers from UK universities: con offers and uncon offers.
Con offer, which means conditional admission, requires international students to submit the relevant supporting materials required by the school again, and can only exchange for an uncon offer after meeting them; Students who receive an uncon offer are more trouble-free and can go directly to pay the fee.
03. Pay the reservation fee
If you accept the offer and study within the specified time, you will need to pay the student registration fee, which will offset part of the tuition fee after you enroll, but if you pay the fee and then give up the school, the money will not be refunded to you, a bit like the deposit when renting a house.
Generally speaking, the reservation fee of British institutions is within 1000-2000 pounds, and the consideration time is relatively abundant, ranging from 1-3 months, but the consideration period of more popular majors will be relatively short, so international students should not miss the opportunity because of indecision.
04. Apply for language classes in advance
If your current language ability is not up to the standard and you cannot adapt to the all-English teaching environment abroad, you need to apply for a language class in a British university first, but the class number is limited, and the application channel will be open in March, and the application channel will be closed around May.
According to your actual IELTS score, the school will match you with classes ranging from 6 weeks, 8 weeks, and 10 weeks, so international students must confirm this cycle and do not collide with the school's opening time and affect their enrollment.
However, the cost of language classes in some colleges and universities is more expensive, and if international students do not apply for language classes, or want to improve their IELTS language scores, they can also find another language training platform, but they should screen the qualifications of the institution more when choosing, and do not be deceived.
Click on the Blue IELTS Language Training Platform for Overseas Students for more details.
05. Keep your grades
Many undergraduate students have not graduated when they apply to study abroad, so when overseas colleges and universities review you, they can only refer to your results in the first 3 years of college, therefore, many colleges and universities will require international students to submit a complete transcript of the four years of college after graduation.
06. Obtain CAS
After getting the UNCON offer, international students need to exchange for CAS, which is the official admission letter of the British university, which is also a unique electronic reference number.
When applying for a student visa, international students only need to enter this number, and the visa officer will be able to check your personal information, school information and various materials, but it should be noted that the validity period of CAS is only 6 months, so be sure to apply for a study visa as soon as possible!
07. Pre-deposited margin
When applying for a study permit, in order to ensure that the international student has enough funds to cover the tuition fees and daily expenses in the UK for the next 9 months, the visa officer will randomly check your deposit certificate, which must be prepared in advance in the student's own bank account, and the specific amount will be detailed on the CAS.
If parents must deposit this money in their own accounts, they also need to submit proof of work income, parent-child relationship, etc. when applying for a visa, which is very troublesome, it is better to let it go to the child management, which is also a kind of exercise and recognition for the child.
08. Apply for a visa
Due to the recent adjustment of the UK's immigration policy, the visa rejection rate has also increased, so international students must understand in advance what materials are required to apply for a visa and the application process, and take a look at the relevant strategies to be foolproof.
09. Book dormitories and air tickets
Unlike domestic universities, British universities have to use dormitories.
If international students are not interested in the dormitory, then the best result is to give you an expensive and dilapidated dormitory, and the worst is to have to rent a house outside the school, so that the cost, quality and security cannot be guaranteed; It's the same for air tickets, be sure to start early!
10. Exchange pounds and pack your bags
When you go abroad, you naturally have to use foreign currencies, so you should pay more attention to the exchange rate before going abroad, and exchange pounds when the exchange rate is good, which can save a lot of money.
As for the suitcase, there is really no need to pack too many things, just bring your daily needs and comfortable clothes, and wait for other supplies to be purchased at school, or send international couriers, which is completely in time.
That's all for this issue, it's not easy to code words, please pay attention to and support it! If you still want to know about study abroad information and learning dry goods, welcome to come to Little Seahorse to talk, I will know everything and help everyone's studies!
