To make it easier for people to buy fresh and affordable food, Dollar General is partnering with Shelf Engine to roll out its automated, AI-powered produce ordering technology across the United States. By the end of fiscal 2023, Shelf Engine's cutting-edge AI technology will be implemented in approximately 3,000 stores.
This national expansion follows a successful two-phase pilot of Shelf Engine's unique technology in more than 400 Dollar General stores starting in December 2022. Its AI-powered platform is designed to automatically generate orders, with the goal of optimizing inventory levels, which directly contributes to providing the freshest possible food to Dahl's customers.
Stefan Kalb, Co-Founder and CEO of Shelf Engine, commented: "We believe this partnership will continue to revolutionize and simplify order management across the enterprise. ”
Allen Warch, vice president and divisional merchandising manager for Fresh Commodities at Dale Corporation, said, "This partnership is a strategic step toward improving the efficiency of our operations while also increasing inventory levels of fresh produce to serve our customers. ”
The Shelf Engine is transforming the food chain, helping grocery stores dramatically reduce food waste while increasing profits. Using its own AI technology, Shelf Engine provides retailers with accurate orders for each SKU to purchase highly perishable food items, eliminating inventory loss and stockouts. Shelf Engine's unique business model handles the entire ordering process, from merchandiser management to shelf optimization. Seattle-based Shelf Engine was launched in 2016 to manage orders for thousands of leading grocery stores across the United States.
