From February 26 to March 2, 2024, the 31st China (Weixi) Orchid Expo will be held in Baohe Town, Weixi County, Diqing Prefecture.
It is understood that the 31st China (Weixi) Orchid Expo with the theme of "exploring the secret land of the hinterland of the Sanjiang River and appreciating the charm of the orchid in the empty valley", invited nearly 1,000 guests at home and abroad to participate. There are 27 main booths in the main venue, which can accommodate more than 5,000 pots of orchids, and there is an outdoor exhibition area of nearly 4,000 square meters for orchid friends to exchange and appreciate.
In addition to the award and display of the Orchid Expo and the opening ceremony of the Orchid Expo, there are also a series of wonderful activities such as the 11th China Orchid Industry Development Forum, the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Council of the Orchid Branch of the China Flower Association, the Orchid Calligraphy, Painting and Photography Exhibition, the Orchid Planting Demonstration Garden and Orchid Village Field Visit and Industry Promotion, and the Weixi Tourism Promotion Conference and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Promotion.
Weixi County is located in the northwest plateau of Yunnan, the hinterland of the world natural heritage site of "three parallel rivers", with rolling peaks and a vertical three-dimensional climate of "one mountain with four seasons and ten miles of different days", which has given birth to rich biodiversity resources and has also achieved the Weixi fine-leaved lotus petal orchid. As a natural provenance and specialty of China's fine-leaved lotus petal orchid, Weixi County has 150 native orchid species, more than 80 characteristic famous flowers and more than 200 new species, so it is known as the "hometown of Chinese fine-leaved lotus petal orchid".
