The homeowner's preferences and needs
The owners loved the natural logs and the slightly vintage feel. Since the two babies are still very young, they want to be as involved in their development as possible. Therefore, there is a need for an area suitable for parent-child activities, where it is convenient for the family to read and play together. At the same time, as a family with children, adequate storage space is also indispensable.
Features of the house type
The floor plan of this house is typical of a pistol room, with some obvious advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantages of the unit include the long entrance corridor and poor lighting, the kitchen wall is a load-bearing wall that cannot be removed, and the area of the two secondary bedrooms is small. The advantage of the unit is that the other rooms are well lit, the living room is sizable, and the double balconies can be incorporated into the interior.
The homeowner's expectations and the designer's renovation plan
Homeowners expect a large island and a large dining table, and a living or dining room that can be versatile enough to dine, work, and play. They also expect bathrooms to be able to separate wet and dry, and children's rooms need to be functionally expandable, including reading spaces and toy storage.
The designer has made a full range of renovation plans according to these needs:

1. Change the partition wall of the guest bedroom to a glass partition to improve the lighting of the entrance corridor.
2. Adjust the position of the public bathroom wall to increase the space of the guest bedroom.
3. Adjust the wall scale of the living room and dining room, and expand the western kitchen cabinet to increase the kitchen function.
4. Dig holes in the wall of the public bathroom, hide the wall-mounted toilet tank, and increase the storage space.
5. Merge the north and south balconies into the interior to expand the public space.
The forest green, which is loved by the owner, is decorated with small wall lamps to create a cozy atmosphere of tranquility and nature. The entrance is divided into a shoe changing area and a storage area, of which the shoe changing area is paved with terrazzo bricks, which is easier to clean.
The hanging drawer not only has a full storage function, but also can be used as a stool for changing shoes, which is convenient for the elderly and children. The large-area dressing mirror not only has the function of checking the instrument, but also improves the brightness and visual width of the entrance area through the reflection of light.

Inspired by the couple's beloved forest green, the living room extends from the hallway to the entire home, with gold and black details creating a natural and sophisticated light retro feel.
In order to meet the couple's needs for parent-child space and work and play, it was decided to replace the sofa with a 1.8-meter dining table and chairs to enhance the flexibility of the space and allow family members to better communicate and interact with each other.
The living room has become the center of family socialization, and in order to solve the problem of projection distance of the laser TV host, a pull-out table TV cabinet is also customized. The desk on the balcony is cleverly designed and can be adjusted in height to meet the needs of children at different stages.
The wall is made of green half-wall splicing, with darker wood furniture, presenting a cinematic quiet, stable and restrained texture.
The owner of the house is a skilled chef with high requirements for kitchen functions. The kitchen uses walnut veneer to create the base cabinet, and the wall cabinet is unified with the whole house cabinet in white.
To expand the kitchen's functionality, a western kitchen area was added, integrating a steam oven, drinking fountain, sink, snack cabinet and pull-out breakfast counter, and the cabinet was extended to the north balcony laundry area.
From the kitchen to the pull-out breakfast counter, the breakfast mode can be switched with one click, making the early morning of the weekday more convenient. The focus of the design is to expand the western kitchen area by moving the kitchen wall, and at the same time design the wooden box with ** door and small string window, which not only solves the problem of insufficient kitchen space, but also creates a retro design.
The south-facing master bedroom is flooded with natural light, allowing sunlight to pour in through the windows. On the side of the bed is a wall of white wardrobes, which reduces the feeling of congestion.
The dresser in the corner of the wall has a period shape that becomes the highlight of the whole room. In order to create a more comfortable environment in the senior room, Murphy beds were used instead of fold-out sofa beds, and air-conditioning reservations were set up to meet the needs of the elderly.
The entire master bathroom has also been remodeled, including the dry and wet separation design of the sink and the unique green + wood color combination.
The north-facing children's room is reserved for the little princess, and the walls are made of sweet pink latex paint, which makes up for the regret that the sun cannot shine directly through the diagonal cut half of the wall.
The guest bedroom is for the elderly, abandoning the design of the fold-out sofa bed and replacing it with a Murphy bed, with a surrounding cabinet as a supplement to the cloak.
The reserved position of the air conditioner and the setting of the desk and bookcase make it possible to transform the room into an independent study when the elderly are not in use.
The bathroom opposite the guest bedroom is designed with a washbasin that separates dry and wet, which is convenient for washing and disinfecting at home. Wooden washbasin cabinets, wood-framed mirrors and small vintage chandeliers give this little corner a perfect texture.
In the wet area, the wall-mounted toilet cistern is hidden by a hole in the wall, which increases the storage space. The master bathroom between the master bedroom and the children's room has also been remodeled to maintain a consistent green + wood color scheme.
This exquisite renovation project began with the measurement of the house in early July 2020 and was completed on July 23, 2022, after two years. In the whole process, the designer not only overcame the force majeure brought by the epidemic, but also actively looked for suitable soft and hard decoration main materials, and maintained the expectation of cost control.
Although the final product is the responsibility of the homeowner, the designer's advice provides direction for the "form" of the home. This period has also seen the project evolve and improve, creating a comfortable, functional and quality of life living space for this family of five.
