Granblue Fantasy: Relink was released on both PlayStation and PC on February 1st, and while the PS4 and PS5 releases were relatively smooth, some Steam players playing on PC encountered issues and had crashes, and this tutorial can help you solve the crash problem better.
If you're experiencing a complete game crash when launching Granblue Fantasy: Relink from the Steam client, then this article is for you. The bad news is that there's almost no way to know exactly what caused the crash, as this will be a case-by-case case, but the good news is that there are several possible simple solutions.
According to the Moon Ring Game Guide, there are six ways to solve the crash:
1) Verify the integrity of your files and one of the most persistent causes of crashes is a bug or corruption. If this is the issue that is causing you to crash, then here's an easy fix. If it's not the culprit, there's still no harm in verifying the integrity of your files:
Launch Steam and go to Library. Right-click on GranBlue Fantasy: Relink and select "Properties". Click on "Installed Files" and select "Verify Integrity of Game Files".
Verifying integrity can take anywhere from a minute to 30 minutes, but this process will allow your PC to make sure everything is right the first time and fix any issues found. If Steam finds a bug with your **, you will be notified.
2) Check for driver updatesAMD, nvidia and intel usually release new drivers every other week or so, which are specifically designed to ensure that you can run the latest version. Even if you have the most powerful graphics card on the market, outdated drivers will definitely make the new version inoperable.
The process of updating drivers varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, so the first thing you need to know is who made your graphics card (most chances are AMD or NVIDIA).
For nvidia:
Open GeForce Experience. Switch to "Drivers" and select "Check for Updates".
For AMD Radeon:
Open AMD Radeon Software. Select System, and then select Check for updates. 3) Disconnect your controllerFor some players, connecting an external controller to their PC proves to be the culprit. If you're using a controller for the game, try not connecting a controller until you're on the main menu in GranBlue Fantasy: Relink.
4) Enable or Disable Steam InputIf you're using a keyboard for gaming, keeping Steam Input enabled could be the reason why you're experiencing a crash. Conversely, if you use a controller and disable this setting, that could be the problem.
Go to the Steam library. Right-click on GranBlue Fantasy: Relink and select "Properties". Go to "Controllers" at the bottom of the menu. Enable or disable Steam input.
Whether you're gaming with or without a controller, it might be a good idea to test enabling and disabling – and possibly fix your crashes.
5) Play in windowed modeIf your crash is happening during a cutscene, then the fix may be to switch the fullscreen mode to windowed mode. Don't ask me why this worked, but some Steam community users reported that this solved their problem.
6) Disable vsync: The last solution is to simply disable vsync from the graphics settings menu. vsync is often a problem kid when it comes to display settings, and unless you have a super powerful rig and you have a low-hertz display, you never need to worry about it. In fact, unless you can explain exactly what vsync is and why it's good for you, it's a good idea to turn this setting off every time you launch a new game.
