With about 1.1 million active troops and about 2 million reserve troops, the Indian Army is the largest army in the world. The Indian Army, which is divided into five military regions, eastern, southern, western, northern and **, has medium-range missiles and has nuclear capabilities. The army is organized into 4 group armies, 12 army headquarters, 35 divisions (3 armored divisions, 4 plain integrated divisions, 18 infantry divisions, 9 mountain divisions, and 1 artillery division), and 15 independent brigades (7 armored brigades, 5 infantry brigades, 2 mountain brigades, and 1 airborne assault brigade, the "Pritvy" surface-to-surface missile regiment, 4 air defense brigades, and 3 engineer brigades.

In recent years, the Indian Army has also made efforts to achieve informatization and synthesis, but the development of the Indian Army is very uneven in terms of equipment. It shows the characteristics of relatively advanced tanks, relatively old infantry fighting vehicles and air defense systems, and the basic lack of self-propelled guns.
At the same time, although India has always attached great importance to the independence of military equipment, due to its lack of strength, the production and research and development of advanced equipment are still relatively dependent on foreign countries. Three countries are of great importance in this: Russia, Israel and France. Coincidentally, Russia and Israel have been confined to a war recently and have been too busy to take care of themselves, and there may be many problems with cooperation with India in the future. France is relatively weak among the major powers, and its equipment has distinctive characteristics, but it is not necessarily suitable for India's national conditions.
Generally speaking, the Indian Army's equipment is seriously biased, the level of modernization is effective, and its future development is greatly limited by the international situation.
