People's Daily Online, Beijing, February 27 (Reporter Sun Boyang) On the 25th, the Boao Health Food Science Conference and Expo was held in Boao, Hainan.
At the conference, Chen Junshi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the development of the health food industry is inseparable from two elements, one is scientific and technological innovation, and the other is financial support. The food of the future must be safer, more nutritious, more convenient, tastier and more sustainable.
At the meeting, Chen Junshi analyzed the current situation and prospects of sustainable development of the health food industry from three aspects: policy environment, scientific and technological development and market demand.
In terms of market demand, Chen Junshi believes that for the health food industry, market demand is not necessarily positive, and opportunities and traps coexist. Taking plant protein as an example, "artificial meat", after experiencing a wave of capital speculation, many related products of domestic and foreign fast food companies have withdrawn, and the "artificial meat" of cell culture is an opportunity and market demand, but there is still a long way to go in terms of technology improvement and cost control, in the long run, it is a direction, but it is not suitable for short-term investment.
When it comes to food for the elderly, Chen Junshi said that there are many food-related products for the elderly in the international market, but through market research, such products are still relatively few in China. With the advent of economic development and social aging, the market demand for age-appropriate food continues to expand, which is an opportunity for the health food industry.
