Guangzhou, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Working Office of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Guangdong Province, jointly issued a notice on the 8th that the Co-operation Zone will be officially closed and operated from March 1.
According to the notice, in accordance with the Master Plan for the Development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Overall Development Plan for the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin will be officially closed and operated from 0:00 on 1 March 2024 with the approval of the Management Committee.
According to the Master Plan for the Development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the first line between Hengqin and the Macao Special Administrative Region and the second line between Hengqin and other areas within the customs territory of the People's Republic of China is set up. A few days ago, the Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration of Taxation issued relevant policies to clarify the implementation of the "first-line" tax policy and the "second-line" control of the cooperation zone.
After the issuance of the Circular, the Co-operation Zone will successively issue documents on the identification of goods** and their tax payment status from the "second tier", allowing eligible Macao residents to bring animal and plant products into the Co-operation Zone from the "first tier", and credit information management.
According to the circular, a series of documents, such as the Notice on the Import and Export Tax Policies for Goods in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the Notice on the Tax Policies for Personal Luggage and Deliverables in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the Notice on Adjusting the Scope of Goods Subject to VAT and Consumption Tax Refund in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, will come into force from the date of operation of the customs closure.
