On June 15, 1971, Comrade Xie Jueya, one of the "Five Elders of Yan'an" and a veteran figure of our party, passed away, and a grand mourning ceremony was held for him inside and outside the party to commemorate this firm believer who accompanied the Communist Party from scratch and from weak to strong.
Soon after Xie Lao's death, his wife, Wang Dingguo, known as the "Nine-toed Female Red Army", took the initiative to find **. The old man told the comrades of ** that the treatment he enjoyed did not match the reality, and asked for the allocation of houses according to his rank.
What is the legendary story between Wang Dingguo and Xie Jueya? Why did she ask for a redistribution of the house after her husband's death?
Click on it to learn about the life of the old Red Army Wang Dingguo.
Wang Dingguo's real name is Wang Yixiang, born in 1913. As a child born in a poor farming family in Yingshan, Sichuan, Wang Yixiang's childhood can be regarded as full of hardships. According to the old man's recollection in his later years, when he was young, his family was extremely poor. Because he couldn't eat, his sister was starved to death, and his father, who was the "pillar", did not dare to seek medical advice after he fell ill, and finally died miserably in the pain.
In order to arrange the funeral for their sick father, the family sold their three-year-old brother to others, and exchanged four coffin boards and two liters of peas for his deceased father. Four thin coffin boards were put together to become Wang Yixiang's father's coffin. Two liters of hemp peas became a feast arranged for the funeral bearers who bid farewell to their fathers.
Soon after, because the Wang family couldn't open the pot at home, they finally sold Wang Yixiang to a rich man as a child daughter-in-law, in exchange for enough money to live.
Wang Yixiang thought that he would fall into the abyss and suffer inhuman torture. But God seems to have taken pity on this little girl who has suffered too much, and has brought her hope for life and a lifelong pursuit of supremacy. Uncle Wang Yixiang's good friend accidentally learned of the child's situation. This man, who goes by the pseudonym "Yang Buke", is an underground member of our party and conducts ideological propaganda and other activities in Sichuan. After learning about Wang Yixiang's situation, he took the initiative to find Yixiang's uncle and scraped together more than 40 silver dollars to save Yixiang, who was living in dire straits.
It is precisely because of this experience that Wang Yixiang is full of respect for the Communist troops and full of envy for the Red Army troops. In 1933, the Red Army liberated Yingshan, and Wang Yixiang ushered in the first major turning point in his life. Encouraged by the propaganda of the Red Army troops, this hard-working man who had the experience of being rescued by the party organization chose to join the Red Army and devote himself to the great cause of liberating the poor people of all China.
Relying on the enthusiasm in his heart to serve the country and his dedication to the great cause, Wang Yixiang soon became the backbone of the Red Army troops. At the end of 1933, Wang Yixiang joined the Communist Party of China with his outstanding contributions and began his career as a party member. It was also at this time that she took the meaning of "stabilizing the family and country" and named Wang Dingguo.
For the next two years, she worked diligently as the commander of the women's separate battalion and the commander of the Soviet district defense company. In 1935, due to changes in the revolutionary situation, the Fourth Front Army abandoned the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Region and began the Long March. She was transferred to the Advance Troupe and joined the army. Although the Advance Troupe does not nominally undertake important tasks such as fighting and carrying supplies, it has extremely difficult living conditions due to its special attributes.
As a troupe, they need to be at the front of the line when the troops are out to ensure their own safety. After the troops were stationed, they had to carry out condolence performances all the way, from the vanguard to the rear troops. After the performance, they need to rush to the front of the army and embark on the journey again. As a result, the Advance Theatre Regiment traveled a much longer distance than the combat troops.
When the Red Army crossed the grassland, this big girl was only more than 50 pounds, which was simply a skinny appearance. When the old man recalled this incident in his later years, he also joked: "If you weren't so thin, you would be able to get by on the grass!" If you fall into the grass, I'm afraid you will already fall. Although the old man was still very optimistic about this incident, he could also see the hardships and hardships of the year.
In June 1935, the First and Fourth Front Armies joined forces in Maogong, Sichuan. Her unit stayed in the Tibetan village at the foot of the snow-capped mountain with the leaders of the ** column. One day, while she was doing laundry by the river, a comrade with a big beard asked her to help sew clothes. Looking at the old comrade in front of her, she agreed. After completing her task the next day, she took her clothes and went to the old comrade's residence. After some exchanges, she learned that the old comrade in front of her was Xie Jueya, who was as famous as Dong Biwu, Xu Teli and others.
After thanking her for her help, Xie Jueya carefully reminded her to prepare more chili peppers before climbing over the snowy mountains. These peppers may save your own life or the lives of others.
Their first encounter ended in a hurry, but the wheel of fate soon brought them to meet again. These two comrades, who both have some affection for each other, would not have imagined that one day they would be able to get married and spend the rest of their lives together.
Wang Dingguo and Xie Jueya met at the foot of the Snow Mountain, how did the two people with huge differences come together and become revolutionary partners?
In 1936, after the Red Army had successfully gained a foothold in northern Shaanxi, in view of the international situation, it was decided to send troops to attack Gansu and Ningxia, open up international routes, and receive assistance from the Comintern. And the troops undertaking this important task are the main forces of the Fourth Front Army.
In October 1936, the main force of the Fourth Front Army crossed the Yellow River and embarked on a journey to the west. As a member of the Four Front Army, Wang Yixiang was on the side of the army and embarked on a dangerous road of uncertain life and death. As a hard-hit cadre of the army troupe, Wang Yixiang is in charge of a large number of materials and equipment required for the troupe's performances, and at the same time, he also needs to take care of the young soldiers, and his work is extremely tiring.
After the troops entered the Gansu region, they were strongly intercepted by the Majia Army in the northwest. Because there was no revolutionary base in the northwest, our army lost the possibility of supply. In addition, there are more cavalry in the Ma family's army, and its mobility ability is far better than that of our army. Therefore, the troops were repeatedly defeated in Gansu.
In such a dangerous situation, the troupe still did not stop working. Not only did they still insist on going to the positions of various armies to perform condolence performances, bringing psychological comfort to the tired soldiers. They also took out their own small funds to buy some daily necessities for the soldiers and warm the hearts of the soldiers.
However, the performance of the soldiers of the troupe could not change the established situation of the battle, and the Western Route Army finally collapsed in the face of the enemy's artillery fire. Wang Yixiang's troupe was also surrounded by enemies. Because of the fierce will to fight, the enemy mistook the troupe for the military headquarters of our army and launched a fierce attack. The troupe will make a mistake and attract the enemy's heavy troops to buy time for the transfer of troops.
Wang Dingguo, a literary worker, led the young female warriors to climb the besieged small building and attack the enemy with the ubiquitous brick and stone tiles.
Despite fierce resistance, the troupe was ultimately defeated due to the disparity in numbers and firepower. After Ma Jiajun attacked the position of the troupe, he found that this was not the main force headquarters at all. In order to vent the evil anger in his heart, Ma Jiajun drove the soldiers of the troupe into the sheepfold and stripped many soldiers of their clothes.
In the northwest land, if you spend the night without clothes, there is a high probability that you will not survive to the sun rising the next day. In order to protect the lives of the soldiers, Wang Yixiang tore off the curtains in the troupe and distributed them to the soldiers as warm tools. At the same time, she also collected nearby wood and lit it to keep the fighters warm, successfully allowing them to survive the cold nights.
After that, they were escorted to Qinghai by Ma Jiajun, and were made up by Ma Bufang for their enjoyment. Later, after the troupe members were transferred to the troops of the warlord Han Qigong in the Zhangye region of Gansu Province, they still worked in the troupe. At that time, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party launched a second cooperation, Xie Jueya established an office of the Eighth Route Army in Lanzhou, and began to look for the Red Army soldiers who were scattered in the northwest region that year. Thanks to Xie Jueya's efforts, the people working under Han Qigong were discovered by members of our party. Under some careful planning, the party organization successfully rescued everyone.
Under the guidance of party members and comrades, Wang Dingguo successfully met Comrade Xie Jueya, who presided over the work of the office. After careful consideration, the organization left her to work in the Lanzhou office and became Xie Jueya's subordinate. In the course of her work, she quickly realized the excellence of this old man who was more than 30 years older than herself.
He not only guided himself in revolutionary ideology and theory, but also took great care of him. In the quiet passage of time, the feeling between the two is getting stronger and stronger. In September 1937, the two got married in an inconspicuous small bungalow in Lanzhou and formed their own revolutionary family.
Under the guidance of revolutionary ideas, Xie Jueya and Wang Dingguo came together across the age barrier of dozens of years. What kind of contribution will he make to the motherland and what kind of sacrifice will he make for the revolution?
The combination of Xie Jueya and Wang Dingguo is very strange to outsiders. When the two got married, one was only 24 years old and the other was 53 years old. One is an illiterate person who has never gone to school and does not know how to write and ink, and the other is a literati who has studied both Chinese and Western languages and is quite talented. There is a huge gap between the identity and background of the two, but they successfully got married and stayed with each other for the rest of their lives.
In order to let Wang Dingguo better accompany him and complete the secretarial work. No matter how busy Xie Juezai is every day, he will squeeze out time to learn with his wife. After teaching basic literacy, he taught his wife about bookkeeping and other things. Even, Xie Jueya also said that Wu Xiuquan, a future great diplomat, personally taught Wang Dingguo Russian to increase her work skills.
Under Xie Juezai's careful cultivation, Wang Dingguo's knowledge and culture as well as his understanding of revolutionary ideas have been greatly improved.
As the administrator of the Lanzhou Office, she not only completed the task of collecting and rescuing the soldiers of the Western Route Army, but also took on the important responsibility of external affairs.
In order to catch up with her husband Xie Jueya, a great literati, Wang Dingguo always insisted on studying. After the couple moved to Yan'an, she took the initiative to go to Yan'an University and ** Party School and other educational institutions for further study. In addition to work, I also spare two hours to study cultural courses.
With the accumulation of time, Wang Dingguo gradually changed from being able to read and write books to the level of being able to recite poetry and write essays. When Xie Jueya needed to publish relevant books, Wang Dingguo was even able to help her husband correct the errors and omissions in the books and participate in the compilation of the books.
Although she has been able to stand alone after years of hard work, she has always stayed by her husband's side and served as his secretary. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xie Jueya successively served as Minister of the Interior, President of the Supreme Court, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. His wife has always been by his side and helped him achieve good results in various positions.
In 1963, Xie Jueya, an 80-year-old man who had struggled for the Chinese revolution for half his life, fell ill with cerebral thrombosis. Wang Dingguo has to rush home to take care of her husband on the hospital bed every day after finishing work. Although such days are very hard and tiring, Wang Dingguo has never complained. Soon after, Wang Dingguo was framed by others because of his identity as the Western Route Army, and was isolated and examined for dozens of days. During this time, Xie Jueya lay on the sofa in his wife's room every day, waiting for his wife's return.
The husband and wife have supported each other through decades of ups and downs, but time is always unforgiving. On June 15, 1971, 87-year-old Xie Juezai, a veteran of our party, died. According to the party's regulations, the family members of cadres can inherit the houses distributed to cadres after the death of cadres. According to Xie Jueya's status in the party, family members can live in extremely spacious houses. But after Wang Dingguo dealt with her husband, she took the initiative to find **. Not only did she not take over Xie Jueya's house logically, but she also took the initiative to apply to ** for a smaller house.
She said to the ** staff: "I am not a survivor, I am a party cadre." I have my own job, and I live in whatever house I have! ”
At her strong insistence, Xie Lao's house was eventually repossessed by the organization. A number of service personnel, such as cooks and drivers, who were assigned to state-level cadres like Xie Lao, were also dismissed. Wang Dingguo moved out of the mansion with his children and lived in the house he was assigned to.
For children, she also has her own way of educating them. She and her husband share the same opinion about the children's upbringing, that is, "leave it alone". Although Xie Lao lives a very generous life as a national leader, he has a high status in the party. But none of this has anything to do with the seven children under his knees.
Under the management of the two parents, all 7 children began their own life struggles as ordinary people. The parents have never used their identities to say a good word for their children and seek any benefits. In order to sharpen the children, the husband and wife sent most of the children to the frontier or military camps to cultivate their hard-working spirit.
The husband and wife hope that in this way, they can inherit the revolutionary spirit of our party and cultivate new people for the party.
In June 2020, the 108-year-old Wang Dingguo passed away suddenly, ending his legendary life.
