In 2003, Majian Village, Huiwei Township, Maojiatan, Hanshou County, introduced a new citrus variety - Egyptian sugar orange, built the province's first Egyptian sugar orange production demonstration base, and established an Egyptian sugar orange planting professional cooperative, with Majian Village as the planting center and radiating the whole township. The cooperative mainly carries out Egyptian sugar orange seedling breeding, cultivation demonstration, fruit storage, processing and sales, and provides members with a full range of services before, during and after production.
At present, the planting area of Egyptian sugar oranges in Maojiatan Huiwei Township has reached 5,000 acres, through the operation of professional cooperatives, the implementation of unified cultivation and sales, all to achieve order production, and successfully passed the Ministry of Agriculture China Green Food Development Center green food certification audit, per mu output value of about 6 to 8,000 yuan.
